I'm letting go of the 78 for 1000 bucks. I posted it on Craigslist and 6 people within the hour called me about it. One guy really wants it, He's bring his trailer down tomorrow, Tuesday. I told him that price does not include the wheels and HID's, he didn't care. So hopefully tomorrow I sell it AND GET MY NEW ELKY, :nanawrench:I have my sights on this bad mamma jamma of a 81 elky:laughing4: thats right a new elky for me... This one was posted today so hopefuly tomorrow it will still be there. I'll have to drive a good hour + to get it. But for the price and the looks, I'm all for it.

Do we need to put training wheels on your new one or are you going to behave in it!!!!:poke:
Why aren't you putting that money towards your 68?
Good luck

Seems like a low price for your Caballero, but if it's fair to both parties, who am I to question the deal? The one you've set your sights on looks pretty nice, but I have to echo Donny's question. Last time you discussed the subject, you were going to squirrel away all that you could save up and go for a repair & restoration of the Black Beauty. Is that still a plan for the future? In any event, I, as always, wish you the best of luck in your pursuit of El Camino nirvana, but hope that you will eventually go for the Black Beauty...............Ken

I'm going to be a good boy in this one,, I have to be, It has a V6. And I need to be able to get to my new welding job I have lined up for me in Long Beach.

I found another one right now for cheaper a 78 with a 350 in it. The 81 is 2 hours away the 78 is a better deal and only half an hour a way. So right now some one is takeing a 2 hour drive from Ventura County with a trailer to come pick it up,(so he says) for a grand without the wheels and HID's. After he picks it up I'll shoot down to Gardena and check out the 78 and if its what I like I'll buy it.

These fith geners are my concubines, There's a reason why I pay 25 bucks a month storage fees for the 68... She's the love of my life. Like I said I want to restore it but I want to do it the right way with no expenses spared. The 68 still lives in my heart. My girl friend loves to hear me talk about it, because she can see te passion I have for it. She even wants me to get it back on the road too because she knows how happy it made me. She also likes the 78, she wants to drive it. She loves el caminos because her dad had one and now he wants another one, I found me a keeper, I mean come on how many of you have wifes that want you to work on your car...

I'm another lucky one. My Fiance' bought the 78 I have now for me because she knows how much I missed my 79. She went and talked to my close friend and father figure about the 78 he had that I've been after ever since I got my driver's license. This is also the same person I got the 79 from. Needless to say she now has a ring around her finger and we're to be married in July! Good luck with this one!

:inlove: I got me one! :inlove:

I'm glad things are working out for you again, Samir! You had us worried about where you may have been headed (El Camino wise) a few months back, and it's good to hear that you may be getting dealt a few aces for a change. Let us know how the new deal goes down, and fire off a few photos when you get a chance.............Ken

Well....... I BOUGHT A NEW ELKY!!! :nanawrench::onfire::nana2::banana::banana::laughi ng4: This is my 3rd one since Aug-2008

So I bought my 78 cabby for $1640 drove it for 6 months then crashed it. Then sold it this morning for $1000 without the wheels it came with. I paid $100 buck a month to drive it and for the wheels.

This evening I checked out anouther 78 with the same conversion kit to a 87 with the same bumper, roll pan, air dam. But this one has a mean sounding 350/350 in it with headers and edle carb and, 2.5 in dual exhaust dumping befor the rear end like my 68, But this one might have flow masters on it. It has a B&M slap shifter in it and all for $1500!! The only thing was the break hose at the rear pass drum leaks alot. But I have an extra 700 to fix whatever I need. I'm going to buy tires for sure, Most likely some BFG G-force tires. I get at whole sale price so probibly 80 bucks a piece. I like this one alot more then my cabby. I'm super happy...

I dont have time to mess with it, I need to be mobile ASAP. So tomorrow I tow it to my mechanic to fix the breaks. Hopefully I'll have time to go to the dmv for the title change and insurance on it,

The pix arent so great there quick iphone flix

Not bad for 1500 bills. Good thing you have your wheels to throw on there. You're on the right track getting good tires and brakes 1st. Just save the drifting for empty parking lots, OK? Your Elky will live longer that way!
