I was wondering if any body has heard or used the megasquirt.
I saw the article in carcraft MegaSquirt A True Low-Budget Multipoint EFI System (http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles/116_0403_mega/index.html)
And the main website is MegaSquirt Electronic Fuel Injection Computer (http://www.bgsoflex.com/megasquirt.html)
I was planning on putting this on my 350 wandering what your opions was of it

Apparently you can use the mega squirt for as many cylinders as you want. My son's helping with a university SAE car. They design and build a small race car from scratch and then compete in handling, fuel economy, etc. A couple of weeks back I was helping him build an aluminum box to hold the main Megasquirt board. Only about 4" x 6' x 2". They were using it on a 450cc bike engine with a turbo charger. On Yahoo groups there is a user group with about 3500 members.
If you have the intake manifold and injectors it looks very affordable and adjustable. You do need a seperate ignition system.
I've been considering the megasquirt with an intake from www.lt1intake.com Last nite there were two of the megasquirt systems listed on eBay. Bid price did not seem to be too bad.

I had been looking at that arrangement too.
In my case we bought an LT1 driveline and it came with an extra PCM, harness, O2 sensors, etc. I picked up an LT1 intake at a flea market for $10(he didn't know what it was and wanted to get rid of it). Since then I picked up a small cap electronic distributor, so I have all of the pieces. Once I'm finished the LT1 swap I'm working on, I plan to get into it a little deeper. The intake needs to be modified for water inlets and a hole for the distributor. A friend just modified an intake for an LT1 with a regular distibutor controlled by a Holley Commander system

The factory PCM will control the ignityion advance, but the Megasquirt and Holley system needs outside control. However, the factory PCM can't be adjusted with a laptop.

The new megasquirt stuff supports ignition control. I'm looking at converting my 305 to a TBI setup, using the MS kit (I like building electronics), and supposedly it'll control the GM HEI that's in my '79.

I like the megasquirt system, I looked at it before and it looked like it would be easy to build and program. The only thing I was leary about was the MAP sensor, when I looked before it was soldered to the main circuit board and if it went bad the car didn`t run, but they may have changed that by now.
You can adjust the factory PCM with a laptop, you just need the tuning software. Almost all GM computers can be retuned, 93 LT1`s, TPI and the older stuff requires chip burners and software. 94+ LT1`S can be tuned with LT1 Edit (I think that might be the only programmer for LT1`s?). LS1`s can be tuned with LS1 Edit, HP Tuners, or EFI Live 7. The problem is that the programs to tune LT1`s and LS1`s cost around $500
