Welcome to ECC. Sounds like the beginning of a nice project. If you have your hood down to bare metal, you will need an etching primer to cover the bare metal first and then follow with a high build polyester primer for block sanding afterward. If the hood is not to bare metal, skip the etching primer and use the polyester primer only. Spray a guide coat with some rattle can flat black paint prior to blocking. Most restoration parts places sell floor pans. Check out Original Parts Group. www.opgi.com for replacements. Good luck with your project.

I have found a tremendous amount of answers using the search feature. I use it all the time. Most of the questions you have will have been answered by many of the experts on here. Welcome. And if you don't find an answer, or in my case sometimes, can't understand the answer, feel free to ask anything.

Use a zinc-chromate, self-etching primer. It can be overcoated with almost any 'building' (read-thick) primer and sanded. Then let it dry for a minimum of one week to out-gas before painting. The zinc-chromate STOPS rust from re-appearing.
