sounds like linkage rod is in a bind or a clip holding one is broke.....
you'll have to take the door panel off...........check the linkage at the key lock, handle, and latch with the door open and closed....
try working the handle and the lock at the same time...
also, there might be some of the fabric or mesh that was used to prevent rattles and screeching that the rod is inside of snagged up.......
while your in there, spray the linkage points and latch with graphite lubricant or WD40, and make sure any power accy wires or the mirror adjustment cable is not a culprit.....
you should be able to work the rod to from the knob to the latch manually up and down............the latch maybe shot or a spring might have popped, look in the bottom of the inner door for pieces
you might wanna try removing the rods at the latch and try working them all and greasing them-if you encounter a frozen feature you might have to just force it up or down to free it up, and watch those sharp edges
