Some of us have aliases instead of our real names posted on here to maintain our privacy; I sure hope everyone who just got outed on this post 1.) gave Carlisle permision to share their info with you 2.) gave you their permision to share it with the world wide web. :dontknow:

Leo, maybe you could match the names with the ECC member screen names?

Seriously?

Not worth the trouble.

People ask if their on the list and I'm supposed to guess names to match them to screen names? We posted the list the last two years, no such paranoia was exhibited then. If you don't want Carlisle to release your name then use a fake name when you register because, God forbid, if you win anything they publish it!

So I suppose we also shouldn't post the winner's list like we and Carlisle do every year? If anyone wants to know if their on the list call Carlisle, I have much better things to do.

I'm glad this is the last year I'm doing this.

There has to be something wrong with what I've read on this thread. I had NEVER considered that the ECC members used these wacky names for the purpose of "cloaking" their identity - we must have a much larger witness protection program than I had suspected before. Now, having said that, it is my belief that there are many members who go to shows like Carlisle to be with their friends, and it is really, I mean REALLY, important to know who else is attending. I, just like others, I believe, cannot remember many of the tricky pseudonyms employed by our members, but I CAN remember names. And, how are we supposed to work toward attendance goals on this forum if some aspects of it are going to be cloaked (or choked) in secrecy? I guess that I've been involved in blowing members' covers more than a few times over the past 4 or 5 months - I've been pretty open in publishing the results of the Texas Get-Togethers - and I've had zero complaints. I guess the new-world-order has finally hit us. Or, as I hope, there is simply a misunderstanding of the value of a cloaking device - remember that Captain Kirk was ALWAYS able to shoot down the Vulcan Warrior ship even though a cloaking device was employed.

We need some sort of compromise on this subject. I cannot believe that this is a problem with a group of adults who just want to talk about their crucks. I don't remember reading ANTWHERE in the rules and such relating to this association that names would be redacted to protect the integrity of a witness protection program, or to prevent proton cannon penetration of a Vulcan cloaking device. Are there really, and I mean REALLY, any members out there who have something to fear from the revelation of their given name? Does any member really, and i mean REALLY, remember reading somewhere on the forum, that their name would be protected and, thus, took that to the bank BEFORE signing up to be a member? Those are not trick questions. But, if the answer to the second question is negative, then I believe that the problem has a simple solution................Ken

I apologise in advance if this rant offends any of our members except me.

Thanks guys, at least some people have some common sense! If anyone wants the list to check their name, just PM me and you'll have it. Anonymity is NOT assured on these forums, in fact, want to know someone's name? Just go to their profile and there it is with their full street address, including TSUNAMIGREGG's who isn't even on the list of pre-registrants! I invite everyone to take a look for themselves.

By the way, after the show the winner's lists will be published on Carlisle Events web site, here, and all over the internet. If anyone does not want their name shown on the list then disqualify yourselves from judging please.

Captain Kirk was the star of Star Trek, Tuggster. If you never witnessed one of the Vulcan "Birds of Prey", just as it disappeared by way of it's cloaking device, then you can't have an appreciation for what "frightening" really means. So, to encapsulate this concept in a somewhat simple manner - one person's "nothing" can mean death & dismemberment to another - it's all in the true understanding of the concept. We can discuss the concept further at Carlisle, if you want?.................Ken

For those of you that have met me, you know that I am a Marine; as a Marine, I have been taught that sharing too much info on some of these peer sights can be bad; if you ever take the time to Google your name, you'll find there is alot more info about yourself than you would have ever realized. No my full address is not on my profile (if it is, it shouldn't be, and I'll take care of that), and no I don't use an alias in the phonebook because I am unlisted. It would be quite stupid of me to blindly trust several thousand people, some of which are dishonest (it may not be you, but there are dishonest people in this world and even on this website) with details about my cars then tell them where they are kept. Look at some folks pictures of their cars; ever notice how many people (not all) have their license number blocked out? I wonder why they do that? Is it so we can't pull up their info thru DMV websites?

Am I a little paranoid? No; since I plan apropriately, I have no reason to be. Don't think it's just here that I take exception to the use of too much info; yesterday as some stupid woman on my son's school trip asked one of the teachers how many kids were about to get on the buses going on a school trip so she could update her Facebook page with that number, where we were and where we were going, I expressed to her what a bad idea I thought that was too. :buttkick:

If anyone was offended by my atempt at looking out for your personal information's security; oops. I have shared my info with Ken, so that he may share it with other local members (that both he and I have personally met) here in Texas. I know Ken well enough to know that he won't post it for all to read. For those of you I haven't met personally, no you don't learn the secret handshake until we do meet.

And for the dishonest people on this website; I am a Marine. I live in Texas. I have guns. I am skilled with them. :2gunsfiring:I will have no problem sleeping at night after your visit.

yeah i can never understand why some people are so uptight about their simple name being posted, are we going to wear name badges at carlisle that have our screen name for the site? and tsunamigregg i dont belive gun threats are a good idea weather your a marine or not. just throwin my copper coins ouut there

M~Dizzle, I wouldn't call it a gun threat; I'm not actually THAT skilled. Luckily with a scatter gun you don't need to be. Plus, any would-be thief needs to be more worried about what my black lab will do to them before I get to them anyway :shocked2:
