Decided to do the window tint after looking at several videos on U-tube and the front windows went great. I already had the door panels off and it was relatively easy to get it right. NOW the REAR WINDOW was a NIGHTMARE. I used the 6" strips as they recommended, but no mater how careful, I'm getting little fingers of separation at the bottom of the window. Also they recommended overlapping the strips by about 1/8" and the stripe across the middle of the window drives me crazy. NEW IDEA - got some tint that CLINGS to the window instead of glue. Anybody used this? Will it work? One piece is big enough to do the entire rear window and you are able to put it on and remove it later if you want.

I would take it to a professional to get the rear window done. I would also only let them do it if they could do it in ONE piece without any seams. It CAN be done because there are owmers of El Caminos here in the town I live in thats had it done. I checked with one shop here in town that said he could do it in one oiece for about $60. I haven't had it done yet but probably will sometime.

I have my El Camino tinted all the way around, and be VERY careful with who you get to do your backglass. It's a pain, and if not done right, it may not bubble now but it WILL. Make sure they have a warrenty on their work. The place that did mine had one, however they had to relocate or something, and my tint is beginning to bubble. Isn't noticeable unless I point it out, but be VERY careful. Make sure you check state laws too, don't want no tint tickets :P.

The window tint that comes in a roll works good if you do it properly .Most people install it incorrectly and get the bubbles. Trick with the roll stuff is use a spray bottle with water and a bit of mild detergent like sunlight spray both the window and the film .place the film in place and use a small squeegee to smotth it out to remove all air bubbles. use an exacto knife with a new blade to trim the tint.

That's almost exactly how I did it the first time. problem was the the window is wider at the top than at the bottom so when the film gets positioned correctly at the top, it has to "bunch" up at the bottom to fit. When it starts to dry, those little fingers where it bunched up start to release from the window and no amount of squeegeeing gets them out. One U-tube video told me to use a hair dryer to "Shrink" the fingers out, but my film just wrinkled. Thanks for the advice.
