I have been thinking about doing an electric fan conversion from an f-body. What are all the parts needed from the donor car? and what do you wire it to? I have searched the forums and can't find any instructions. Is this a real hard job to do? or is it possible for the average person

I contemplated adding dual eletrics from a 96 Impala SS but ended up with a dual fan from Flexalite. Had to make some upper/lower mounting brackets rather than use the plastic thru-the-radiator they provided. I used two relays, one for each fan to supply voltage for operation. If you want them to run all the time you can use the ignition signal to the relay. I installed a 190 degree fan switch in the radiator just upstream from the thermostat that provides the ground control for the relay telling the fans to operate. Good Luck and let me know if you need any other info.

thanks for the info. i haven't decided for sure if i am gonna do it or not, thats why i asked on here. And from what you said, i am probably gonna go that route pretty soon. I think i might have some spare cash in the next few weeks, gonna try to find fans out of an f-body, how good should that work?

I have a set of 98 Camaro fans in my setup. Went with them for the LT1, but should work with any motor. They dropped right in place. I keep them there with a Regal radiator bracket. (http://www.poltergeist.us/page/Elky/Engine_Bay/Pics/Fan_support.jpg) The LT1s ECM controls my fans but you could get some temp sensors set to the temperatures you want them to come on and have them activate relays that would turn the fans on.

I thought I had a picture of the fans before I installed them but can't find one.

I used a 86 IROC Camaro fan from a junk yard in mine. It comes with brackets & was easy to install. I used a relay from the same car & bought a universal temp switch.

I'm probably going to junk yard this weekend. Tommy, how much did that fan run you?

I have a local junk yard that the owner is a buddy of mine. I got my whole set up for 10 bucks.
