I've bought a 69 el camino and while installing a Edelbrock carb I wondered hmm where the kick down cable(passing cable)
DOES IT NEED ONE? for a 350.
I have asked several different auto shops and 2 say yes and 2 say no.
errr DO YOU KNOW THE RIGHT ANSWER. please help.
And can you install w/o dropping the transmission.
Thanks camino Fans :?

Edelbrock I think sells the piece you need for the kickdown cable. You need the kickdown cable. Its not just a "passing gear" it helps regulate pressure in your transmission and yes you probably could get by without it but your transmission will feel better with than without and probably last longer.
Internal pressure is what operates the transmission and makes you move so having the correct pressure all the time is essential.
Well I was going to go to Edelbrock to look but I can't open the page right now. Hook it up. Mine Edelbrock has a place for the kickdown on it. Its a 750 CFM.

yes you can replace the kickdown cable in the tranny without dropping it, but if you have headers you will probably want to drop the passenger side header down out of the way because there won't be alot of room to work on it with the header in place. I know because I did this myself.
