How Hard is it to convert between the V6 to the small block chevy. I have a 85 with a cracked frame and bad body but everything else is ok. I want another Elky to build as a project car. I've found several V6 cantidates, but I am unsure of how much work it will be to change them over. All the V6 cars have no motor, trans, or interior. If you know what other parts I will require that will be of help. I am not afraid of work so the more I can do myself the more money I can spend on college. Thanx

stock Chevy v6. I understand that i will have to change the front springs as well. The car is an 83 and i have an 85 parts car with the 305 and trans assembly.

you will need the V8 motor mounts
and depending on wether you can get a computer controlled motor or not
you will need a vacuum advance distributor, run a key on hot wire from the column switch to the distributor and put it on the right side of distributor
I am running a 305/TH350 w/lockup. computer still in. but not much hooked up to it from the engine.
go with a 700R4 if you can, (will give better fuel economy)
if you run the 700, you will need a brake switch to take it out of overdrive when you slow down.
can be had from several companies that advertise in Chevy mags.
the switch is not too difficult if you have pulled any amount of engines.
Good Luck
