Greetings everyone,
Just signed up today after stumbling on this site looking for VIN decoder. I have an '83 Caballero 5.7 Diesel, I've been told that these are sort of rare. It runs like super, about 30 MPG on the hiway but is slower than :cruch:. Anyway, I'll cruise in once in a while. Anyone here have a diesel?

Welcome to a great site. I have a fairly new 350 4 barrell carb. in my 80 Caballero. I joined back in Feb. and have learned a great deal from these guys. Did not know that GMC put a diesel into a Caballero or DID THEY? Anyway I got mind for show and it's getting there.

Dieselboy There have been a couple of other guys on here that have diesels can't remember right off hand tho Did you know that Daryl Hannah from the movie Clan of the Cave bear owned a diesel Elky I have a pic of her with it Jim PS enjoy the site :texas:

I am not sure if you know or not, but we are having an EL Camino meet in Carlisle pa June 25-27 2010. Your El Camino does not have to be show quality to enter the show. All we care about is that you took the trip down to the show. It is a great show that is fun for the whole family. There is a lot to do there beside just sitting around your car for hours on end like most car shows.
Also we would really appreciate it if you could preregister ASAP for Carlisle pa show if you decide to go. Also choose NECOA from the drop down menu of clubs. Doing so helps with setting up classes, help get up a bigger parking spot, helps with getting EL Camino guys a tent and helps promote the organization.

Thanks for all the welcomes everyone. As I go through this project, I'll take pics and post them. I am planning on upgrading suspension, exhaust, transmission, clean paint and body with a cowl induction hood, and fresh interior. Eh, just another uncommon diesel car.:dontgetit:
Oh, and try to get 36 MPG from this pig...
Anyone have a clean black dash assembly?
