I have an aftermarket Frigette AC unit installed in my 71 El Camino. It doesn't have a belt to the compressor, but the pully turns freely. Should I get a new belt and see if the unit runs, or assume it needs a new compressor?

See if the hub will turn too, but belts are cheap enough, couldn't hurt anything.
