: Stumped By My Engine
Black Market 06-20-2010, 09:53 AM Long story short, I'm trying to identify my engine. It's not stock and it's newer than my EC (84)
I have the casting number and the engine suffix identifier
14102058
K0410FAK
Now, here's what I've discovered. It's a 305, 87 or newer, assembled in Ontario on the 10th of April. And the FAK suffix doesn't seem to exist. :dontknow:
If anyone can help me out, it'll be appreciated. I'm going to see if I can't crawl under there and see if the VIN is on there somewhere

Black Market 06-20-2010, 11:42 AM Where did you get this information (so fast)?
Elkiebob 06-20-2010, 11:50 AM They are called books. When some of us had money and jobs, we bought them. Glad he was able to help you.
Black Market 06-20-2010, 12:51 PM Me too, thanks!
leogexx 06-20-2010, 01:15 PM books are old school , we have the internet ,unfortunately you have to look at a million websites before finding good ones . Here is a good link for small block suffix codes
http://www.chevymania.com/chevymania/partsid/suffix.cfm?block=small
big block suffix codes

Black Market 06-20-2010, 05:47 PM Thanks and thanks. Yeah, I looked at about 25 websites before I finally gave up and posted here.
Sodbusterjohn 06-27-2010, 08:03 PM Books may be old school, but usually the information has been tried and tested. I can usually find the right stuff in my manuals faster, than searching the internet.......:nanawrench:Some times too much information, too fast, although, gotta love the link for small blocks............Sod
elky pain 06-27-2010, 08:33 PM Mortec.com is also a great place to look up all your casting numbers.

I would agree there are some excellent books , but i have found lots of reference books with incorrect info . I am sure that the good websites and the good books are sharing the same original data resources . I myself do not have manuals with suffix codes so I searched until I found a good website . How did we ever survive without the internet ?
