I picked up an LT4 for my Vette at a swap meet a few years ago...and there were Corvette LT1s all over the place, with and without trannys, ranging in price from $500 to $3500 depending on condition, mileage, and modifications. Stock automatic trannys ranged from $100-$500.

If you're REAL lucky, you can find a stock one out of an impala at a salvage yard.

what make the impala LT-1 better than an F-body LT-1? Acessory brackets? Just wondering?

94-96 Impala / Caprice Lt1's (260 hp) have cast iron heads. F car and Corvettes have aluminum heads and a little more cam & compression(290-300 hp). B and F car accessories are on the passenger side, Corvettes on the driver side. Supposedly the cast iron heads were designed later and flow slightly better.

We bought an Impala SS motor, trans, harness, PCM, wheels, tires, spoiler, and lots of parts for just under $1500.

Some of the Impala/Caprices were actually 265's, not 350's and corvette LT1's are four bolt mains, other are 2 bolt. For more detailed infomation about differences, you should read Doug Anderson's article on rebuilding LT1's
