im looking at some headers that are ceramic coated long tubes..But im sort of in a rush to get them. They are used so they have their usual wear on them..one side you can see is sort of bottomed out but not anything major. I was just wondering is it worth the wait or should i just go ahead and get the street headers by flowtech that are uncoated.

I think that ceramic coated headers are worth it for several reasons. First of all they look good and they will outlast non coated headers by at least 5 times. They also offer a performance increase over uncoated headers. Coated headers retain the exhaust heat which increases the exhaust flow thru the header and also keeps the engine compartment cooler which is good for performance. If the header was properly coated inside the tubes this makes the walls smoother which also enhances exhaust gas flow. Albeit the performance gains are relatively small but they are real.

i wouldnt go so far as to say they look nice they have a chalkie white look to them..they are used..they dont look spectacular in any way..but then again im a function over form kinda guy

Yes these full lenght headers almost always have ground clearance problems and that's why I prefer mid lenght headers for street driven cars. With all of the bidding it's not likely that you could get these headers for much less than $150.00 (including shipping) which I would consider a marginal bargain considering their condition.

but then again im a function over form kinda guy Can't really tell how bad they've been flattened, but if they have been flattened bad enough then your not going to get the performance gain you would if they weren't damaged. The wall thickness of the scraped pipes has got to be pretty thin. These are equal length tuned headers (key word being equal) The price isn't bad now...but Marpii is right if they go much higher I wouldn't bother with them. IMO...I'd pass on bidding and buy a set of new ones especially if looking for "function over form"

Well i have a set of Hooker headers ceramic coated inside and out done by SCS coatings here in Houston. No Chalky white coating they are bright almost chrome looking finish very little discoloration after a few months on the car.

Guess it depends on who did it and what kind of ceramic coating it is?

The headers you're looking at are crap! The gashed in, rusty areas will rust through in a year or two.

Don't buy someone's junk. The ending bid price will be half, or more, of new standard headers.

Ceramic is the way to go, if you can afford it. If not, just buy steal. You'll get ten years out of plain headers.
