I showed him I was. He then asked me to to get out and come to the back of my 74 El Camino. He pointed and said (you see where your seat belt is now? thats where it was when you passed me a minute ago!!!!)
DUD what do you say to that?:dontknow:

79 Caballero 07-05-2010, 06:04 AM Recently I had to have a new gauge cluster installed in my '04 silverado. As I left the dealership, I turned on my GPS, which has a speedo so I could compare at different speeds and make sure they matched up. 55-Good, 65-Good, 75-Ticket. Tried to explain it to the cop, he said he understood but I was still speeding. Oh and walking out of a bar to help a friend wait on a cab and getting arrested for public intoxication, both were stupid.
Keyser Sose 07-05-2010, 06:36 AM Dec 75, had my 66 Impala running about a week from tearing it down and building motor, trans, whole car. Was in downtown Jacksonville, ILL. Pulled away from a stop sign real easy, was going about 12-14 mph, popped the autostick II (TH400w/shift kit)into 2nd gear theres a CHIRP cop. he asked me why I did that right directly in front of him. explained that I had the car running for a week and was still getting used to it, and wasn't going fast at all. he said, "I know that, leave it in drive from now on"

CANTED 07-05-2010, 07:20 AM Riding a dirt bike on Daytona Beach (don't do this, they don't play). Seems the beach is considered a road and all rules apply. Got taken to jail and only two tickets (the officer was being a nice guy as he had about five in mind), no tag and no inspection sticker.
John B 07-05-2010, 07:24 AM I ran thru a speed trap doin 6 over. Everyone new of it, so did I. The BIG sign half a mile before it that read "Radar speed check Ahead" probably should have told me maybe it was time to slow down also. $130 and my ins. went up for 3 years
Slammin Sam 07-05-2010, 07:41 AM The dumbest response to a speeding ticket I WROTE was to a young lady who told me she thought
the posted speed limit was a suggested speed.
Marv D 07-05-2010, 08:00 AM 65 in a 25 residential zone. Trans shop I worked at had a Buick that wouldn't shift out of 2nd. Boss told me to go stick my foot in it and see if it would auto shift into 3rd at WOT. He paid for the ticket.
Funniest one ever and I didn't dare laugh. I was 17, got a ticket for drag racing (which I honestly wasn't,,, 'that time') Had to have a parent go to court with me. My dad is taking me to court and whe gets a ticket for going the wrong way on a 1 way street,, IN FRONT OF THE COURTHOUSE. My ticket was dismissed because the officer lost some paperwork. Dad's ticker was like $150. Wow was he pissed! He lived for 35 more years after that and we NEVER EVER said a word about it ever again!!! Back then you'd get your @$$ beat for much less!!!

I got a no-inspection citation once too. Just fixed the '70 Jag E-type we had at the time (notorious "quality" Brit electrical systems!) and took it out to go rent a movie. I'd say it was about the most expensive movie rental of all time! I got lucky. I went to the town JoP office to pay the fine and they only charged me $35.
Of course, we did get the car finally inspected after that since all of the lights finally worked again! I miss that car!
leogexx 07-05-2010, 11:25 AM I was travelling on the highway in summer at 7 am on a sunday morning ,got clocked doing 95 in a 70 zone , cost me over $300 . money grab ticket as there was nothing around at 7 am on sunday
gmartin73 07-05-2010, 03:26 PM oh lets see here, got a ticket once for no seatbelt at a checkpoint, the cop asked me why i didnt put it on while i was sitting there waiting, but i thought it was just an accident. it was 2 a.m. and i was going to pick up my drunk buddy somewhere so he didnt have to drive home, i guess no good deed goes unpunished. got one once for show of speed when i was trying to race a trans am and there was a cop 2 cars back.
badabiker 07-05-2010, 04:27 PM My buddies and I were cruisin the strip on a saturday night in my pumpkin orange 56 F-100.
Me and my girl were up front, and two guys were in the back. They had been sitting up on the side of the bed, I pulled into a parking lot to tell them they couldn't sit up on the side, they said OK.
So back out on the road, a cop lights me up.
My friends had deciced to get back up. The only one not signing a ticket that night was my girl.
Carr7640 07-05-2010, 05:49 PM I was pulling into left turn lane with green arrow then turned yellow then green slowed down then continued cop pulls me over said I ran a red light then gave me a ticket reading turned left on red arrow .Which their are no red arrows went to court got dimissed.

rangomr 07-05-2010, 07:22 PM I got a speeding ticket in my bread truck on highway 90 going into Superior, Montana and then I got another ticket the SAME DAY for speeding by the same cop leaving Superior, Montana. Back in 1976 they where just $5.00 tickets and did not go on your record. Actually I got 6 that year.
Of course they don't have that system today. TOP THAT:smileyb::smileyb::smileyb:
chevy7dss 07-05-2010, 08:45 PM Michel, You keep firing on that truck of yours and running 115 mph and you'll get a big old ticket and then you have a story to tell on here.. :poke::poke: :smile3::smile3: At 17 i got caught drag racing in town and lost my license for 6 months and $250.00 fine. At 21 i got caught again and i pulled over and cop ask me if i had any thing to drink or what about my buddy on passenger side. I said no but buddy had. The cop opened passenger door and buddy fell out on black top up side down!! The cop laughed so haed and then told me, IF YOU HELP ME GET HIM BACK IN THE CAR, I WILL LET YOU GO!! I helped him and got out of there. At 35 i was at the grand rod run in pigeon forge tenn and i had a 1970 chevy pickup with a 425hp engine in it and my buddys where standing along the sidewalk agging on cars to burn out and then they saw me and started messing with me to bring it off. Well, they talked me into it and i turned it loose and after i smoked both tires, a cop walks out of crowd and tells me to pull it over!!!! It cost me $275.00 for reckless driving and then my insurance caught it the following year and raised my insurance up for burning rubber!!! :dontknow::banghead::banghead: Now i'm 47 and still laying rubber every once in a while but not been caught yet!! KNOCK ON WOOD!!! Just can't help myself...

skinyfisher 07-05-2010, 09:13 PM Well mine was "Full out Drag race" 65 chevelle my 62 Impala (way built) Squad was right behind us and went off with us to third gear and than light us up. Good part I was alone and copped out to the correct speeds before and after, the other dud had three giirls in his cars and said all the wrong things. My ticket was for 55mph in a 35 zone and speed exhabithion, the other guy got the book all out drag racing in excess of 120mph reckless endangerment to minor passengers and evading the question by a law inforcement officer. Several weeks later I see him the fine was one year work driving only 12 points and $1,000 fine and traffic school for fellonny drag racing.
webbd 07-05-2010, 11:36 PM I got a ticket for California-stopping a stop sign in my El Camino. I was at an intersection where I had to go through a frontage road right before the highway I wanted to get on. The frontage road had a three way stop, and the highway had a stoplight not 30 feet from the frontage road. So I slow down to like 10 MPH and then the light turned green, and I went through the stop sign and through the light. Ended up being a $90 ticket (which made me mad because my friend rear ended another kid and my friend's ticked was $65). The second time I have been pulled over I was in my sister's Camry. I decided to do 65 in a 50 down a blind hill (cause it's fun to go down blind hills fast). As soon as I reached the top of the hill and started going down, there was a cop going up the other side. He pulls me over, claiming I was going 70 ( I actually slowed down when I saw him, who wouldn't) but then he gave me a warning and let me go.
T6Elky 07-05-2010, 11:51 PM I was heading to a junkyard in my 92 S-10. I had recently shaved the tail lights on the truck and had led lights in the roll pan. I used red primer where the tail lights had been. So i got pulled over for speeding and the officer let me off with a warning but before he left he told me my brake lights were burnt out.:nanawrench:
Hansmanbo 07-06-2010, 03:25 AM He wrote me for driving left of center, but actually had passed an unmarked cop on a double yellow in a construction zone, in a big truck!:dontknow:
Manic Mechanic 07-06-2010, 05:37 AM Years ago, I ran into some bored cops. I had blown a head gasket on a 455, and it was puffin the vapor. I was merely trying to get it home, about 4 miles, and got 2 squads on me. I got 2 tickets, hazardous operation, no visible turn signals or brake light, and they said I must get a wrecker. No money. So I waited about 4 hours and tried to run it home under cover of darkness. They had actually waited after shift change cause they said they knew I'd try it. This time I got only 1 ticket and a night in jail. Um, wreckless driving! Definite over-reaction. Really, the puffing wasn't as bad of a safety issue they made it out to be, but like I said, they were bored.
old_coot 07-06-2010, 09:35 AM Cheyenne Wyoming, got a wreckless driving ticket for backing up in a school zone......I pulled up to an intersection and the road was blocked due to a wreck, after sitting there for ten minutes or so waiting I backed into a drive way just to the rear of my car and was heading back down the way I came when the blues hit me.....I wasn't in the school zone at the corner but actually backed into it when I turned---maybe three car lengths at most....any way I made them show me in the book that backing up in a school zone was illegal---it is ...............Dan
Zerberfert 07-06-2010, 10:16 AM When I was in the Navy I was driving on base with my 66 Mustang. Had an MP pull me over for doing 43 in a 30. Heres the best part. He visually estimated me doing 43 but his radar said 36 and he wrote the ticket for 43. He actually told me this as he had me pulled over. I took it to court and the Master Chief threw it out. I had to watch out for that MP the rest of the time I was on base which was about 1.5 yrs. Funny Funny
E-Man 07-06-2010, 11:58 AM In the state of FL. you can get a ticket for not wearing a seat belt in your car. But you can ride your motorcycle without a helmet.
jae04 10-06-2010, 10:37 PM I had a red 86 fiero gt that i drove in high school. My dad bought it chipped, very small cam, no cats, lowered an inch with some nice wide tires on it. Even with the little motor work, the tires were pretty big and it honestly wouldn't spin a tire on dry pavement. I had to goto summer school my junior year of high school. As I left one day i was pulled over by the SRO(school resource officer). She said i spun tires and came out of the parking lot sideways. I got a ticket for careless and reckless, and they made my dad come pick the car up. The officer proceeds to tell my dad that she has seen me doing the previous 3 weeks and that they have it on video. My dad knows this is a lie because we had the car in our body shop doing a little body work and repainting it for the previous two weeks, and i had been driving another car. My dad goes to the school, watches the video, and its a red cobra in all the clips they had. Had to goto court, but got it dismissed.
ssgmmuscle 10-07-2010, 12:06 AM on a road trip in florida driving dads 94 roadmaster with 4% tint all around (did myself a week prior) doing about 80 in a 75 past an unmarked tahoe sitting on the side of the road ON A JACKSTAND! hmpf 10 minutes later here he comes up my tail follows for about a minute or so and pulls up next to me. by this point i knew it was a trooper but thought nothing of it maybe that he was trying to pass. flicks on lights pulls me over and searched whole car inside and out. no ticket but turns out in that county police were searching for a dark tinted stationwagin out of state suspected to be carrying drugs :secret: wrong place, wrong time.
Elkiebob 10-07-2010, 03:46 AM I just got a no seatbelt ticket yesterday morning. First ticket in years. I guess I ain't driving fast enough. At least I am in good company here.

El Diablo 10-07-2010, 04:21 AM 3 in my life. Last one is in lafayette colo. They install these new quick turn lights and put up a new sign saying --left on green arrow only (too bad if you dont live there and its dark out). A normal timed green arrow with a .75 sec yellow after, then red. Most yellow's are in the range 1.25-1.75 seconds, some 2+. So I argued with the judge that if I was stopped (I was) and crossed the line excatly as it turned yellow (entered on green), I would have to be going 130 mph to exit the intersection in the alloted .75 sec. ( I didnt exit the intersection fast enough ticket). So I bought an El Camino, now I need a new excuse.
The most memorable ticket that I got out of was a 165 in a 55. 1,500$ later to the lawyer it was dismissed based on the radar gun was not calibrated properly. :yell:
gilby 10-07-2010, 06:45 AM I don't know if this counts,but I got a D.U.I. on a horse,I told the judge that I wasn't driving,the horse new where to go,back to the barn.cost me $50.
PaPa Johns 77 10-07-2010, 07:12 AM 2am 66 LeMans with a well built 389 4speed and half a c note bet that I couldn't do a 2 block burnout!
I won, sort of. Made it 2.5 blocks with my heel on the brake and toe on the gas! Then I saw the red lights coming up the street!
Shut off the lights and quick turn down the alley saw the other police car when I turned onto the next street so turned right and headed across back yards. The yards were muddy and it was dark went half a block and was stopped by a fence! Busted!
Reckles driving ticket and disturbing the peace. No damage to property as they made me go and repair the two wide grooves that the N50's made across 8 backyards! Cost this HS kid 250 bucks in fines and about 2 days of labor!
Not my finest hour.
HarleyM 10-07-2010, 08:01 AM about 12 years back in my mazda pickup, 2 weeks after being in an accident (hit n run) that damaged my front end and took off my front license plate, TX dps stopped me for no front plate. Even after I explained the situation, officer gave me a ticket for no front plate and expired insurance card. I got the proof of insurance dismissed, but still had to pay fine for no front plate.
As I drove off, 2 other cars passed us with front plates missing. They did not get stopped.
Ted Dubree 10-07-2010, 08:07 AM 30 Sep 1990, the day I retired from the U. S. Navy, coasting down Hwy 111 Spencer, Tennessee. $98.00.
When I was 17yrs old I got a ticket for going too slow 25mph in a 35mph zone, I had 3 friends in my car and we just stopped for ice creme and cop pulls me over, I asked what I did and he handed me this ticket. When dad got home I had to tell him I got a ticket and I thought he was going to kick my ass but then he asked me for what and he laughed His Ass off. Went to court and even the judge was laughing then dissmissed it.
Only in California.
texasjim 10-07-2010, 09:57 AM Ticket? Huh uhh whats a ticket? had one to the circus once Jim:poke::texas:

Heatsoaked2 10-07-2010, 02:01 PM Every Friday nite the guard at the front gate of the base would ask" how you doing" as he checked your ID. Well, after a long night of drinking, I needed to get back on base and hit the rack. I sat in McDonalds parking lot eating cheeseburgers and reciting over and over my response, " pretty good, how are you?" Later as I pulled up to the guard he asked " where you going tonite"? I replied, " pretty good, how are you". His next question was "Sir, have you been drinking tonight?" A night in the brig, suspended base driving privledges for a year and extra duty.:poke:
1985Diablo 10-07-2010, 03:03 PM This really happened, got a ticket for going into the exit of a PARKING LOT, and out the entrance.

Me, my wife, my sister and her boy friend, went to jail for drag racing ( my sister was grounded ,snuck out of the house to go riding around with her boy friend, while our parents went to dinner).Parents called away from their dinner to come and bail us all out of jail. Any way $2200 and spending our first wedding aniversary in court must of worked, because I have not gotten a ticket in 28 years, and yes we are still married.
centex396 10-07-2010, 05:28 PM THe dumbest that I wrote or got?
Your call. This should be good:popcornsmiley:
Heading north on US1 to a wedding and i'm in the wedding party and really late. Fly right thru a speed trap way over the speed limit. I did not hear him say how would you like to go to the pokey part if you don't shut up. My friends are still mad i never made the wedding.
ElCamino_Oz 10-07-2010, 06:22 PM Way back when I was a dumb kid, woke up one Monday morning hung over, late for work. Hopped into my first car, 1970 Impala custom ( The Gray Ghost ) was cook'in along at about 75 in a 45 when I saw the Red's light up. A VERY QUICK sober came over me, realizing I had a good head start I rolled down the window and huerled the half frozen, almost full beer from last night/morning across the hood and punched it. That old 4 Bbl 350 took off like a shot. I got so far ahead of Him that I couldn't see the lights anymore. I pulled deep into someones driveway and shut the Gray Ghost down. He went by allot faster than I started out. I quick pointed the car back to my moms house, parked it in the garage, and called in sick . I went to work the long way for at least a month after that. I miss them good O'l Days. Oh yes there have been a few tickets between then and now, but all of them would be considered ( Routine Traffic Stops. )
spunkd13 10-07-2010, 07:20 PM Pool hopping on a hot summer night, cops were on mountain bikes, didnt have a chance, the judged stiffened the fine b/c I was 25 at the time, should known better i guess was the lesson...... good thing it wasnt skinny dipping

TheHeartbeat 10-07-2010, 08:09 PM I posted mine but somebody didn't like it so I guess you guys don't get to know...
knine 10-07-2010, 08:22 PM Once wrote a person for "speeding" and "excessive deceleration" when she jammed on the brakes when I got up behind her. Her scowl in the mirror just before she stood on the brakes clearly communicated she wanted me to meet the rear-end of her car. I had to go into oncoming lanes to avoid a collision. She qualified for one of the "Dumbest ever written". (She almost went to jail for reckless).
PaPa Johns 77 10-07-2010, 08:43 PM I posted mine but somebody didn't like it so I guess you guys don't get to know...
Must of been about street racing? That is a nono if it was!
Never had a ticket after my Jr Year of HS. Put over 1.5 million miles OTR driving and I couldn't say how many local delivery accident and ticket free!
67ELK 10-07-2010, 10:00 PM Most Ridiclous ticket: Tires extended beyond fenderwells and Illegal bumper height!!!! 18yrs old driving home in my 67 Z28. Yes it Was a Monster over 500HP 12.5 to 1 NASTY But PUHLEASE That was just Lame. Dumbest ticket: 145 in a 55 Sign here go Directly to Jail. Loose license and pay a Huge fine.
John B 10-08-2010, 06:35 AM I do have one other ticket It was for obstructed veiw and a host of other infractions, was a saturday night cruise the seattle police were trying to shut down. they wrote me up for the fuzzy dice hanging off the rear veiw mirror, also got me for not signing the reg, no litter bag, insecure load (no tailgate on the pickup and i had a splitting maul in back up against the cab (it was not tied down....i dunno) cracked passenger side vent window ( at the bottom less then 1" long) and obstructed veiw of the license plate. (trailer ball) this cop was after me. I said have a nice day and left, 3 blocks down the road he pulls me over again. asks for my license....light goes off in my head....he still has it. I inform him i just realised i didnt get it back from him and he said he did not have it.... NOLOP. went to court, explained it to the judge and showed him the previous ticket and adress where i did have it. he dropped the whole shi-bang, told the cop if he ever seen me back in there with a ticket with his name on it, that it better be good or he would have his rump for harrasment. i didnt dare go into seattle for quite awhile. the cops buddies had no such instructions and im sure they wanted a little revenge for thier friend.
Now before ya all say i must have made him mad.... guess i did. He came up to me with a what the hell ya doing here attitude so i reciprocated. I dont treat people like that and require the same of them in return. I am worse now, but a little age and the funds to fight back seem to keep em from starting up with me anymore.
theelcaminofactory 10-08-2010, 06:53 AM I got pulled over for speeding back in the late 70's in Brunswick Maine, cop got me with a radar gun. I told him I didn't believe I was speeding and demanded to see what the radar gun read. He said he couldn't show it to me until his supervisor showed up. We waited and while we waited, I smoked two cigarettes and through the butts out the window onto the ground. Supervisor showed up, they showed me the speed on the radar gun, I got the ticket for speeding...and another one for littering, two counts...the two cigarette butts...$15 bucks each...to this day, even as expensive as cigarettes have become, they're still the two most expensive cigarettes I ever smoked!
John B 10-08-2010, 06:56 AM $15 is cheap, its $950 in WA if ya throw a lit butt out.
dustym 10-08-2010, 08:12 AM How about "failed to use due care and caution" and "defective tires" as my Nova is sitting on its roof.
2 drinking in public tickets within 6 minutes of each other on the 4 of july
PaPa Johns 77 10-08-2010, 08:48 PM I don't concider it a ticket as the Judge tossed it out.
I was on the interstate on the way to work. Just got on and the entrance ramp is right at the beginning of a hill that is about 1/2 mile long going up! Just as I topped the hill the cop threw on the lights and I pulled over just past the crest!
He said he clocked me doing 95mph and even showed me the radar. I told him no way and if he wanted he could take my car back down and see if he could hit 95. He wrote the ticket and I opted court! He showed up, I did to, with Hans, the guy I was working part time for at his foreign car repair. He testified that even brand new with stock wheels and tires my 64 Baja Bug with a worn out 40horse with L60 15's on the back and G60 15's on the front could not reach that speed going up a hill no matter how much distance I had to the top!He said the car was not capable of that speed period!
The Judge asked the officer "what happened to the car you clocked?" the officer responded by turning and walking out causing half a dozen other tickets to be tossed because he was not present!
Beameup 10-08-2010, 09:30 PM No tickets yet... but I was thinking if an officer ever tells me to blow in the breathalyzer, I will tell the officer to 'blow on this'! ...
Just joking.
just plain john 10-08-2010, 10:05 PM I got one this past Labor Day for public urination, $238. I'm going to fight it, although I'm guilty as charged. I mean really, who among us has never peed outside? The cop didn't see me, he asked what I was doing and I was honest with him. So much for honesty.....

marshall.pixley 10-09-2010, 08:10 AM havnt gotten one yet, though security in my neighborhood told me to lay off the gas cause i was caught going 60 in a 25...... i got out of that ticket! they may not be full blown cops but they still can right a ticket that i have to pay.... guy let me off because i had my lil sis in the car and she was sick, and the fact that he loved my car.
Someone wrote how his Dad got a ticket while bringing him to court for his. It got me thinking about my Dad who I recently lost. I was about 13 (circ 1966) and we were coming to a straight stretch the guys used to drag race at. I said hey Dad open it up and let's see what it will do. (it was a Chevy six banger). Well off we go doing about 70. Out of nowhere this 59 Ford passes us with a cruiser right behind it. My Dad turns white I was suprised he didn't stain the shorts. He slows down, looks at me, and tells me he's never going to listen to me again. I never asked him anything like that again. Luckily the cruiser went out of site and we made it home.

OldChevysNeverDie 10-09-2010, 06:24 PM Got a $3.00 ticket for backing into a parking lot space. I had to take a half day off work to pay the ticket. $3.00 ticket with a $64.00 handling charge in lost pay.
I got pulled over for no taillights (actually I had my lights off because I was bored). I convinced the Officer I had a bad ground wire in my dad's '73. He did not even give me a warning and even verified that the lights were working.
The worst one was recklesss driving causing an accident in Michigan. The other driver was going at least 50 in a 35 at 6 AM in November w/o head lights. The cop said too bad, I was out of state so I get the ticket. State Farm believed me so no rate hike.

DONE DEAL DONNY 10-09-2010, 07:09 PM I had a friend who invented a spray you coat windows in new construction homes with to protect them from paint and mortar and the likes called Zip Off. You spray in on from a paint can and after the home was finished you just peeled it off like wrap. It came in different colors so I got some red and sprayed it on my head lights. At night it looked wild, lit everything up red and looked like a devil car coming at you.
Well a cop pulled me over in the daytime and asked what I had on my lights and as I was explaining it I was also peeling it off showing him how it worked. The Zip Off worked the excuse didn't, ticket for Illegal lighting equipment!!!:dontknow:

That reminds me of the time I almost got a fix-it ticket.. My dad's truck really had an electrical issue and the tail lights would work now and then. A cop pulled me over as I was just a block away from home and it was getting dark. I just told him I forgot to turn it on and he let me go.

72SSELKY52 07-06-2011, 10:12 AM Wow....To many to choose from, lol
The best one I guess is when I was driving for a trucking company hauling sand in a Tri Axle dump truck.
The NJ State cop pulled me over, told me the truck was over weight, asked me for my license, registration & insurance card. He ran a check on them, walks back to me, waves them at me and says if you want these back you will turn around and follow me back to the scales to get weighed. Ummmm Ok
So I go back to the scale, was 2500 lbs over weight and given a citation from the NJ Trooper.
I then came over to the Pa border and was pulled over there also, but in Pa they fit you for an orange jump suit and lock you away until someone bails your ass out of jail.
Not a good day at all .........5000.00 in fines since back then Pa weight was 73280 and not 80000 lbs
My boss was not amused, but it was his fault for dragging sand out of a pit without a scale. lol
BTW I was still employed after all of that.....lol

badger28 07-07-2011, 04:09 PM when i just turned 18 (by 3 days) i got a intent to kill speeding ticket. I was driving my dad's black 1500, going 95 in a 35 at night. Yup, we have to do it every year and have never had a problem. The crap the cop gave me was, "well what if there was a fire?". I dont know, i might move the car or something like that. Was contemplating not paying it, and seeing if something clicks in when they go to write the address on the letter that tells me i have unpaid tickets.
TrannyMike 07-07-2011, 07:13 PM I don't remember the fine because it was so long ago, but I was sited for letting my car idle unattended in front of my house. I said me, thinking nothing of it, and got wrote up....stupid law!

I don't know the law in your state but here in Texas if you don't pay a ticket they issue what they call a bench warrant. They usually don't come after you but if you are ever pulled over, no questions asked, you go straight to jail and your car is impounded.
There's an old saying "you can't fight City Hall."
MikesElco94 07-08-2011, 08:20 AM they just take your car here and make you pay a ton, the towing fee, getting it out, and pay all the tickets. CT is all about the money happened to my mom a couple years back, it just sucks up alot of your time and money. Il pay it, was just venting a little lol
TexasElCamino 07-08-2011, 11:15 PM I got a ticket when living in Michigan while driving a 74 VW Beetle in the dead of Winter with NO HEAT or DEFROSTER. I was cruising home after working the night shift, down Woodward Ave. and was using an ice scraper on the INSIDES of the windows to clear the frost off, and I got a nice little ticket for faulty equipment on that one! Not one of my smartest moves that day!! lol! Don't remember what that cost me!
Mr. Fin 07-10-2011, 08:49 PM I can beat that. My last ticket was in August of 1991. Is was traceling a two lane mountain pass behind two trailered boats on there way to the river. I waited until I came to a long straight away and only seeing one car off in the distance I punched it. I almost made it around the second boat when the dotted line turned solid yellow. I fit about 93 MPH (in a 50 MPH zone) when I cleared the boats and got back into the lane. A few seconds later the oncoming car passed us and I noticed it was a highway patrol. He turned, I pulled over, and I paid $300 after court fees. I held on to that ticket for some time after that as a reminder.
Mr. Fin 07-10-2011, 08:58 PM Gerahead,
That is a classic stop. I have been stopped driving a work in progress around the better part of town. It is the cops way of telling that they are watching you and you'd better be cool. Often they are looking for an excuse to pin other things on you. Run two plates and you are off the radar.
red87camino 07-11-2011, 10:50 AM pulled over for improper start in my 87 by a state trooper on a motorcycle when i chirped the tires. went on and almost threw the book at me cuz he had to write somthing. luckily it was for not having valid registration and insurance card in my camino. dont know what happened to registratoin but insurance was behind the old one. also coming back from the drag strip had a cop follow me for 15 min with no one on the road at 2am through back roads and pulled over for having the same plate number as a stolen car in cali and im in fla. but never the less befor he ran my stuff i was laid over that caminos hood when i was 16
ChinChan 07-11-2011, 01:38 PM I think the dumbest ticket i got was "improperly stopping at a red light" i was on motorcycle the cop disputed i didn't put both feet on ground and i only put one foot down...HUH? needless to say it was dismissed
cees klumper 07-11-2011, 03:12 PM Silliest ticket I almost got was bicycling, back from school going home, on the wrong side of a street divider, together with a friend (no traffic to be seen anywhere of course, we just wanted to take a bit of a shortcut) - all of a sudden this plainclothes cop jumps out in front of my buddy and me to force us to stop. We came away with a warning and only later I thought about how silly this scene was - and how did we even know this geek was a cop?
Another time a cop threatened to give me, all of 19 years old, a ticket for having my Triumph Spitfire parked partly on the sidewalk. He took so much time preaching that I got tired of it and asked him to please just write me the ticket. I guess he didn't feel like it and walked off.
Then a ticket I did get was riding my motorcycle past a long line of cars waiting for the bridge over the Florida Intracoastal waterway to open back up. Now I never had done that before (drive past a waiting line of cars, like for a traffic light) even though I'd seen plenty others do it. Sure enough, the second to last car in the lineup was a cop. Something like $35 as I recall.
86'Kid 10-13-2011, 11:42 PM dumbest ticket? not wearing my seat-belt!!! :let_it_all_out: I have a 5 point harness and only had the two lap sections clipped because I was wearing a tank top in the hot summer sun cruising the beach and the shoulder restraints chafe without a sleeved shirt. Cop said not wearing the seat-belt as it was designed was the same as not wearing one at all. Car is old enough for lap belts to be grandfathered in though so what's the big deal? Meh...I got it appealed anyway :yell:
Mooseknuckle 10-17-2011, 07:14 PM Believe it or not.......Only time I have ever been ticketed was in 1993, homecoming weekend senior year of high school....
Crossing a double yellow line, passing in a no passing zone, being left of center, reckless driving and a DUI. 5 tickets, all at one time! Totaled the car, put myself in hospital bed unable to stand for 4 months then in a wheelchair for 3 months after that.
DUI dismissed cause my BAC level was a .009. Lawyer (father's friend and pro tem judge) argued that the first 3 tickets were all the same infraction and the presiding judge agreed. Plead guilty to reckless driving to get the other 3 dismissed. Was sentenced to 500hrs. community service in lieu of 2500$ fine, because I was wheelchair bound and unable to work.
Lawyer then forgot to file paperwork, 2yrs. later he called in a favor after an arrest warrant was issued for failure to complete service, and it cost me $50.00 and a steak dinner. Case closed.
Not that i am proud of it, but this thread is titled "Dumbest ticket". If there was a smiley emoticon thing for "I was a dumb@ss" I would insert it here.
Needless to say, it was the best lesson that I learned during high school. Now I'm the guy that wont go more than 1 mile over the speed limit, stops fully at every sign, always uses turn signals and firm seat belt believer to say the least.

stormspotter82 10-22-2011, 04:26 PM I have a few of them, one was in Indiana on I-69, it was dusk and I had my running lights on, and forgot to switch over to headlights.
Second, was a parking ticket I got in South Haven, Michigan. I was staying in a rented condo with my parents, and some friends rode out on their motorcycle. It was my dad and his friend's idea, to park my Wrangler and their 2 motorcycles in the same slot at the local beach, I got the ticket and they paid it.
Third, is a ticket that I got because I was driving my dad's car, which he forgot to re-register when the tags expired, and he had put the sticker for the boat trailer on the car.
HKDUP87 10-22-2011, 05:20 PM This is the first time i have told anydody this. It started on hwy 2 in montana on snow packed road going towards seattle. I was driving around 50 mph past a bar and before i knew it their was a chp coming the other way and he turned around. I had been drinking all day and had a small ice chest behind the seat. He pulled me over and had no reason to give me a test he could smell it. He got me in to the front seat and said he had to take me in. I said i was just going to meet a girl up the road and i knew i should'nt be driving but it was just around the corner. It must have been the dog in the car but he said i will follow you and watch if your o.k. I got lucky around the corner there was i motel in the middle of nowhere and i pulled over and told him this is where i'm meeting her. He wrote me a ticket for reckless driving and it was $350.00 you can pay on the spot in montana so i paid him and went into the hotel office and got a room and he left. Don't forget iv'e been drinking so i waited a little bit jumped back in the truck and started my mission again. Well i came around a corner and hit black ice and rolled the truck. A car stopped to make sure everything was alright and said you smell like hell and gave me some gum. He was getting ready to find a phone to call the chp for help. Remember i'm in the sticks with one hwy. and nothing around. So here comes another car and hits the black ice and is airborne over the two of us and lands in the ditch on it's hood. We go running over and lucky they had their seatbelts on and a baby in a car seat in the back. We pulled them out and they were all o.k.. Somebody had got hold of the chp and he was asking us questions and when he got to me he say's you smell lik alcohol. I still have the ice chest full of beer with empties and the dog with my truck on it's side in the ditch. The towtruck comes gets my truck out out of the ditch and the chp says it looks like you had enough problems for tonight and let me go with the tow truck. It's not over i still have beer. He tows me to the nearest town and drops my truck at a closed gas station and i pay him off. I'm looking at my truck the windshield on the drivers side is smashed and a little body damage but to me it looks like i can drive it. So with my luck it started right up so why not go home it;s only about 100 miles. Can't see out the windsheild it's freezing cold i have my head out the window and it starts to snow. Hwy2 in montana is a streight shot with maybe two towns between libby and kalispell I'm getting close to where i started with my ticket and another chp was coming the other way turned around pulled me over and all i said was i went nto the ditch some one helped and i was going to the hotel around the corner. He just looked and walked away. I went to the hotel and went to sleep. I still can't figure out how three chp's didn't know what was going on unless i was in different counties at each time. NONE OF THIS IS MADE UP AND IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. STUPID IS WHAT STUPID DOES. AND THIS WAS OVER 30YRS AGO. AND I NEVER TOLD ANYONE THIS TILL TODAY.

If your stupid enough to get a 502 in california by the time your done you will pay at least $5000.00 in fines, getting your car back, dui school, insurance ect. Dont drink and drive theres always a phone near by.:nanawrench:
centex396 10-22-2011, 09:06 PM I know I've posted my dumbest ticket before but I just got one Mon 10/17/11
I got a summons for Jury Duty, I also had an appointment to have my tires balanced on my Elky.
So...two birds, one stone right? Take the Elky.
While I was in Court there was a cop checking the lot and giving tickets.
Expired inspection sticker.
HKDUP87 11-30-2011, 06:45 AM This is a good thread. Anyone else?
theelcaminoman 11-30-2011, 07:47 AM I was sitting at a college parking lot with my buddies when a cop pulls up. She (yes SHE) starts talkin to my friend about someone that got beat up earlier. His mom was about to get off work and he was suppost to pick her up but the cop wouldnt let him go so he asked me to get her. About the time another cop drives up, I fire up the El Camino with strait pipes blairin and sure enough... barely made it out of the parking lot. I was slightly unhappy... :let_it_all_out:
Cop walks up and asks if I have ever got pulled over for exhaust before in my El Camino and I truthfully reply yes. He states my exhaust is louder than a semi jake brakin down the highway :nanawrench: Then says Iv had 2 tickets for exhaust. Then I started gettin mouthy. I asked when and he says "I dunno but theyre on there". Turns out they were from a small car I drove earlier with little exhaust on it. Luckily I got a warning this time
I wasnt mad because I was getting pulled over. I was mad because I was doing a good deed. But like some have said earlier... No good deed goes unpunished
minoridertim 11-30-2011, 06:31 PM My 1st ticket ever, 108 in 55 zone, and racing. That was early 80's, cost was 225 bucks!

That's the way I want to do it, if you're gonna get a ticket make it worth it.
philipsr24 12-04-2011, 12:33 PM i got a ticket for burning a substance outside of window (a cigarette) and doing 35 in a school zone (9:00 pm no childrren present ) and another time for doing 42 in a 30 at 5am not a single car except for the cop on the road
steelybill 12-04-2011, 09:17 PM My dumbest ticket was my first one, back in 1950, doing 65 MPH across an old iron bridge in town. Speed limit on the old bridge was 15 MPH. But it was like 2 AM, so figured no cops around.....not true.....
marshall.pixley 12-05-2011, 12:00 AM i got a new one sorta... i was at a party with my fraternity (as all dumb drinking stories begin)and i was flat out plastered... instead of risking driving home i just stayed and slept on the couch in the frats house, yeah at 4 am the cops showed up and woke me up asking for my name DOB and identification.... well i was honest entirely. i told them my full name, my date of birth that proved i was 18, and told them i was way to drunk to remember where my wallet was. somehow the head guy of our frat was able to convince the police officer to not arrest me or fine me or even give me a written warning.... all this was done while the guy was hammered, had a beer in his hand, and a half empty bottle of tequila in his back pocket... was a hell of a night! not doing that again though, next time im callin a cab and going to sleep in my own bed :)
ALAsh 01-17-2012, 04:24 PM It was 1964 and I was in Durant Iowa a town of perhaps 800 people at the time.
It was about 9:00 at night and I had just finished washing my new 389 GTO at the local car wash which was in the middle of town. In my infinite wisdom I decided to open the lake pipes I had just installed a few days earlier.
So I pulled onto highway 6, in the middle of this quiet little town, and "Hammered" it. I was pretty much going side ways (because of the wet tires) when I power shifted into second.....and then the really bright flashing lights appeared in my rear view mirror.
It was the local town cop who knew me, as I had just recently graduated from the high school in Durant. He gave me one of the best A$$ chewings I've ever had then or since !!!
And then he let me go with nothing more then a verbal warning. To the effect that if I ever did that again there would be Hell to pay.
I didn't get a ticket.... But I should have for stupidity if nothing else.

ripBUG1377 01-17-2012, 06:46 PM Back of march 11 was the only time I got pulled over. Coming home from school a state trooper just got in his hiding hole. I was doing the speed limit despite the tuner in front of me doing at least 15 over in a school zone and probably texting since he was swerving. Passed the cop and I didn't think twice since I was doin nothing wrong but sure nuff a mile down the road I look in my mirror and see him slamming around a turn in behind me. ( I realized shortly before my seatbelt was off but put it on after passing him and getting out of eye shot.) he walks up to the window and says " well boy I see you got it on now but you need to start wearing thst thing even not around cops" I was super relieved until I realized I'd forgot my wallet in my soccer locker at school. Meanin no license. When he asked I explained I may still have my paper copy in the back in all my junk (high school kid playing sports and working I basically lived in my car) he let me check but when I pulled up my gun belt he about tackled me. I was a police explorer for the local sherrifs department an we received all uniform equipment other than the glock. I quickly explained what it was. He asked if I wanted to be in law enforcement and I told him yes. He handed me a marine recruiters card and told me to have a good day. Will never forget that experience!

69 SS396 04-28-2012, 04:59 AM Didnt get a ticket but got pulled over once and when I went to get the reg out of the glove box remembered I had my fully loaded Colt .45 in there.
Pulled my hands back and told the cop, he just said thats ok, if you were going to shoot me, you wouldnt have told me about the gun.
DONE DEAL DONNY 04-28-2012, 05:16 AM I got pulled over once and they ask to search the car, I said O.K.
After they finished I said hey check this out. I moved the spare tire and lifted the cover on the smugglers hatch and said the next time you search an El Camino you need to search it all. The cop said you could have had a 100 pounds of pot hidden in there, I said if I had I probably wouldn't have shown it to you!!!:nanawrench:

rnhart3 04-28-2012, 06:01 AM Took off from work in a hurry a while back.....wasn't speeding but got up to speed very quickly. Went thru the gears, got pulled over. The ticket? "Unneccesary noise during acceleration"!!
Brett9917 04-28-2012, 06:34 AM I got stopped at a DUI checkpoint once just coming back from band practice. He went through all the usual questions, and of course assumed I was drinking (and worse probably) when I said where I was coming from. After he was finally ok with me saying that I hadn't had done anything he saw my bass in the back seat and started a whole new line of questioning as like why I had a sniper rifle in the back of my car. :banghead::scatter::Eyecrazy:
SINISTER 04-28-2012, 07:31 AM Motorcycles!
I worked third shift and was taking a cute girl home at lunch break, she had forgot something at home.
A van was behind me at a traffic light, and I didn't see the cop behind it.
When the light changed I took off and accelerated to about 105.
Saw the lights and pulled over and waited for the cop...which was really dumb.
She asked how fast we were going...I told her were going to find out.:dontknow:
6 points for reckless operation which was BS...rapid acceleration maybe..but nothing reckless about it.
I should have fought it but didn't have the cash.
i got one almost 30 yrs ago for 149+ in a 55 , resisting arrest in a motor vehicle, failure to yeild.engaging in a speed contest on a public hiway, then they started on equiptment violations, tinted windows, modified exhaust, and one missing lugnut, safe to say they were pissed.when we got into court, the judge asked what 149+ meant and the chp officer said they had nothing that would go any faster and i was outrunning what they had, thats what they get for driveing a dodge diplomat
SINISTER 04-28-2012, 03:08 PM Funny how ALL you guys have tickets.:nanawrench::poke:

elkper1771 04-29-2012, 12:25 PM Hey Donny, Maybe he really noticed your seat belt when you PASSED him. If you get close enough to him make sure you're legal. Then again maybe he was a Ranchero fan. - George :yell:
So lets here them!!!!
Mine was getting a no seat belt ticket on the hi-way. Before I got stopped I slipped on the seat belt. The officer came up and asked (why was I not wearing a seat belt?)
I showed him I was. He then asked me to to get out and come to the back of my 74 El Camino. He pointed and said (you see where your seat belt is now? thats where it was when you passed me a minute ago!!!!)
DUD what do you say to that?:dontknow:
(sign here please!!!)
$50.00 no seat belt ticket.
Thats mine whats yours?

rejektedrekoning 04-29-2012, 04:54 PM i actually have a few. first one was 30 in a school zone. school zone limits here are 15 mph, but it was in july. not sure why the school zone lights were on as school was out for a month. i thought nothing of it and got the ticket. fought it and won.
110 in a 55 on i-90 in a 91 plymouth acclaim. cop was only gonna give me a warning until i piped up saying " i didn't know this piece of **** could go that fast."
driving under the speed limit on a highway. i blew a tire before going on a bridge and was trying to limp it across it because i didn't want to pull over on the side of the bridge. cop was sitting at the end of the bridge and ticketed me.
burnt out taillight in my caprice. i told the cop i have a bad wire and whacked the taillight in front of him to prove it. busted the lens and he ticketed me for a broken taillight.
philipsr24 05-08-2012, 10:13 PM burning substance outside of window (a cigarrette). doing 35 in a 25 when children are present school zone (elementary) at 9:30 pm
mrblanche 05-09-2012, 04:04 AM Haven't had a moving violation since 1983. But that was 69 in a 55 zone in a truck that wouldn't do 69 (or any other speed over 62) if you pushed it off the top of Pikes Peak. The dispatch office got a real laugh out of it when I got home.
CopperTop 05-09-2012, 06:43 AM Lesson learned ... if the cop wants you to pull over, they have to turn on the lights.
I was driving through Bisco Arkansas, a well known and notorious speed trap. I was young, maybe 20 at the time, and as I motored through town one night I passed the city police. He pulls out right behind me and after 5 miles or so glued to my rear bumper I finally decide he must want something so I pull over. On pop the lights.
Ticket for 35 in a 35, driving too fast for conditions. :screwy: It was dark and raining. I thought about fighting it, but it would have meant an hour drive each way from home ... and as my dad pointed out, the judged was probably his brother-in-law.
The only other ticket I have ever received is 61 in a 55. Guilty as charged, though I thought I was only doing 60.
The first ticket was somewhere around 1983 or 1984, the second was the late nineties or early 2000's.

fnsteffen 05-11-2012, 07:01 AM This isn't while driving, but it's by far my biggest "brain fart" that broke the law.
Was at the airport heading out of town. Throw my stuff on the belt and go through the naked picture scanner machine. Waiting on the other side for my stuff to come out, and the agent asks me if I forgot anything that morning. Then I notice other agents and police officers collapsing on the area from all over the airport.
I had left my Springfield XD .45 with a full magazine (13 rounds) in my back pack. Put it in there to take it in the house the day before, and completely forgot about it. Trust me, I know I'm an idiot; no one needs to tell me.
Anyhow, instead of going to jail with federal charges, losing my weapon, and paying ~$7K in fines like I was supposed to, I managed to talk them into letting me leave without charges, take my gun to my car, and pay the minimum $500 fine. Oh, and after taking my gun back to my car, there was a long line at the checkpoint (because of me), so they let me cut to the front so I could make my flight. I've never gotten so many death stares.
Again, I know I'm a moron. That's why I'm sharing. But I'll always be proud of my BS'ing skills on that one.

theelcaminoman 05-11-2012, 07:04 AM And just like that its ressurected lol.
Thats a pretty incredible story lol. My mom had a steak knife in her purse and made it through 4 airports without a hitch... She took it ONTO 4 different planes with her lol.
fnsteffen 05-11-2012, 04:01 PM Yeah, there's no telling how much stuff gets by those guys and no one ever knows. I've heard of people getting arrested just for having a cartridge in their bag, so I guess it really depends on what part of the country you're in and how you react when they find it.
Luckily, I had sincere shock and intense fear on my side, so that helps. And it was in Texas...

82Ellie 05-14-2012, 07:35 AM Dumbest ticket I ever got was a ticket for driving down a closed road.. the house I was going to was in 100 yards past the barricade. I ended up getting it dropped to a lesser charge and paid the fine because I didn't know the house number, and apparently my friend waiting on her porch wasn't proof enough.
Last summer I was visiting my parents with the El Camino and got pulled over for an incomplete stop. I told the officer that I had stopped because I shouted at some people I knew who were standing outside the corner bar smoking cigarettes, but was informed that it's not a complete stop unless your vehicle "see-saws" and the headlights dip. (Apparently he doesn't know the trick about letting off the brake a little at the end of your stop so you DON'T snap forward?) He proceeded to hassle me about a burnt out license plate light and not having my insurance card or an ID with a current address (I had just moved) and tried to stick me with a seatbelt ticket because I took the belt off to get my wallet out of my pocket, but didn't say a word about the muffler sitting in the bed of my truck that I had taken a saws-all to because it was dangling after hitting some rough roads. I got out of all the tickets anyway.
I also got pulled over in my DD once for making an improper lane change on the freeway. I explained to the officer that I hadn't actually switched lanes in the 6 miles I was on the freeway and he informed me that my silver FORD EXPLORER switched lanes with no directional and the Trailblazer behind me hit their brakes to avoid hitting me. I pointed to the bowtie on the steering wheel and said, "I'd be the Trailblazer in this scenario." After he ran my license he admitted that the suspect vehicle had bumper stickers all over the back, but made sure to inform me to make sure I use my directional light the next time I switch lanes.

jammer714 05-22-2012, 04:59 PM I was pulled over for doing 112 on a state route. I had two co workers in the car and the Trooper put his take down lights on for a moment and then off. I remember thinking hey, I am doing over 100 and this fool is closing in on me, Does he not know what I am driving?
Well I did pull over, the Trooper pulled up to the pass window and he had his head down. I asked what was wrong, he said he put himself in pursuit, and now what do I do.
I suggested tell the dispatcher he lost me. Ah he said, good idea.
I loved that 78 Ford LTD Cruiser with the 460 Interceptor. Seems I passed him so fast he did not see it was a cruiser.
Hey, OK,. so I was young, the statute of limitations has long passed.
Muljo777 05-23-2012, 01:23 AM I was on my way home from work. Lots of congestion on my four lanes due to others trying to enter traffic. As I passed the entry ramp I saw a long opening in the left lane. I jumped on it. Was moving pretty good when I saw the trooper in the "no U turn" spot. The lights came on as I went past him. When he asked me if I knew why he pulled me over I replied that maybe I was going a little fast. He said the part that really got him was that I was still accelerating until I saw him sitting there so he had no idea just how fast I was planning to go. He also said my truck was so loud it sounded like a B29 flying by. He asked me to get out of the truck. When I did he saw the shoulder belt hanging with no buckle on it. (It was across my shoulder) He asked what that was all about. I replied it was a decoy. That's when he lost his sense of humor. Tickets for loud exhaust, tires outside of fenders, speeding 83 in a 55, no seat belt, no brake lights, defective safety equipment, bumper too high. I don't rember the rest. All together.....$650.00 in fines and 6 points on the license. Good times.
Skandolis 05-23-2012, 06:42 PM when i was 18 i had a 70 javelin with a 455 olds motor, the town we cruised in was close to 45 minutes away, so every friday night me and all my friends would load up in our cars and race to mena, coming home one night going through a small town(cove, it has about 200 people)me and a buddy were running neck in neck at around 90 when suddenly there were lights everywhere. my buddy pulled over about a half mile out of town,(i ran out of gas two miles from my house,No cops anywhere behind me)they showed up a few minutes later.5000 dollars later(and my dad made me sell the javelin to help pay the tickets) damn i miss that car:(
my second most stupid ticket was on a motorcycle, going to see a buddy in the ICU (car crash) i passed an off duty state trooper on the shoulder of the highway, in 1996 that was worth 350 bucks(wonder i made it to 21)
