: Installing Procar/Scat seats -- Problems

I'm trying to install a set of Procar/Scat seats (1200 series - my back needs help these days) in my '73 Elky, and having some problems. First, Procar/Scat drop-shipped me a pair of seats, and one of them was so banged up that the lumbar adjustment knob had come off, and the adjustment shaft was badly bent out of shape. That seat was replaced.

The second problem was when I tried to mount the seat bracket. This is the 748 bracket, which was supposedly designed specifically for the 73-77 GM A-body cars with original bench seats. Well, when I put the bracket into the car, the back is WAY up, and one of the rear legs is off the floor by about 4".

When I called Procar/Scat to ask about the leg length (I wanted to verify that my bracket was correctly manufacturered), they laimed to not have that information. In addition, they say they have no evidence, other than the word of their manufacturer that this bracket actually fits. Of course, they're telling me that my floor is wrong (I have factory replacement stamped pans), but there's no way that the floor could be off by 4" up/down.

Has anyone installed Procar/Scat seats into their 4th-gen *either bench or buckets originally)? If so, could you please measure the leg lengths (all four corners), and tell me if the top of the bracket ended up level?

TIA

Shim the seats to get them situated where you want them, them make/adapt mounts to put them at that level. Last time I did this drill, ended up using 2 lengths (running side to side) of 2 X 2 inch square steel tubing, with a piece of 1/8 in strap across the back one also. Put the seat right where I wanted it, was VERY solid, and also reinforced the floors somewhat. Bolted the tubing to the floor, seats to tubing. Being size it was, could use seperate bolts for tubing to floor and seat to tubing, and didn't have to use thru bolts for it. Could get a wrench inside the tubing to hold the nuts when tightening.

When I did these (76 chev pickup seats/console in a 67 chev pickup), the seats eneded up high enough that I made a sheet metal block-off plate to go under front edge of drivers seat (attached it to the 2 X 2 tubing). Some measuring and cutting, and Presto! mounted the radio there (this truck was radio delete from factory, and wanted to leave the block-off plate in place). Was easy for driver to reach, hidden from view, and was just one more of the many subtle tricks used on this truck. (kept jumper cables and a 4-way lug wrench in an old backpack under the passengers seat)

I know how to fix what I have.

I'm attempting to determine if anyone has had success with these seat brackets "out of the box". Alternatatively, I'd like to find out what the correct leg lengths are, so that I can see if my brackets are screwed up.
