Hey whats up everyone? I just recently purchased (3 days ago) an 81 conquista from my Dad. After ripping the frame in my 90 5.0 (didnt know those things were so weak when a decent amount of power was added) I figured that I might as well get a cool daily driver. The 81 has a mild SBC 400 in it, Edelbrock performer RPM intake with holley street avenger 670 carb, a NX nitrous kit with a TNT plate, a mild Comp's cam with a Pete Jackson gear drive, an old pair of hooker header's attached to a nasty 2.25" exhaust (Plans are in the making for a full 3" with flowmaster 40 series mufflers and a Dr. Gas X-pipe) TH400 tranny with a 2600 rpm stall, B&m shift kit and 3.73 (I believe) gears. Outside she's painted all black with some Cragar SS 15"x4.5" wheels up front and some 15"x10" wheels in back. Tire size is 165R15 up front with a pair of 295/50R15's out back. So far its kinda funny watchin the Honda boys try and race me while I'm haulin some parts for the Mustang project. They get all mad at me after i get on it for a second and all they see is tail light's and a bed half full of parts. The kicker is when I tell them it's my parts hauler and my "fast" car's at home gettin built :D . I'll get some pics up as soon as possible!

Welcome to ECC / NECOA
You do know that those 3" pipes could damage the top end on your little Mule? SBC breaths just right out of 2.5" pipes and the extra 1/2" really doesn't gain you any additional power, flow or economy. Now if it was a BBC that all changes. But a 400 is still considered a small block, nice engine though.
FORD has a different thing going on some of their 351s. So for now you have to get use to an engine that turns the right direction with the distributor in the right place. :D
Hi Tommy. Welcome to the group from an old Aurora guy.

LMAO.... I have a 331 stroker in the pony and as high as I was revving her she needed the 3" exhaust. Last night i got all the reciepts from the guy I bought the Camino from and im actually impressed. Bottom end has TRW forged piston's, Eagle rods and a steel crank. Now im debating whether or not I want an 8-71 blower on it. If thats the case I would definately need the 3", a custom cam and some new heads. Believe it or not I'm actually a Pontiac guy at heart, but I love all RWD domestic's. even those w/o a V8 in it. I'm in the process of building a 76 vega wagon with a big single turbo 4.3 litre in it. Between that, the mustang, TA and now the camino I'm glad i make good money and still live at home :p. lol. By the way thank's for the warm reception guy's. This place seems alot more close knit then the mustang sites I used to go to.
