I stumbled across an Elky last night just sitting and starting to waste away. It appears to be an '84-'87 model. I am not extremely familiar with the 5th gen years. You can tell it's been sitting a while and I saw some dents in the body. It is white in color and obviously the paint is fading. Has the original wheels on it. Cut to the chase... I am thinking about trying to buy it and re-sell to someone who will restore it, or part it out to finance continued work on my '69. Do any of you 5th gen aficianados have a guesstimate on what kind of offer to make on it. I understand that may be difficult with so little info. THANKS!

the average prices (low) that I have seen around southern wisconsin are still in the 800.00-1000.00 range.
I paid 1G for mine, Vs. a slightly lesser price and having to tavel to get it.
(It was across town)
The biggest factor is your location.

If that 5th gen is a runner the price can vary widely, if it's dead offer to haul it away and give 4-5H for the carcass. Tried to buy one down the road. Guy said he was gonna rebuild it. He better hurry...it's still sitting in the same spot and I think a tree is trying to grow through the floorboard. :-(

I happen to like Ohms Law. Without it I couldn't watch NASCAR. :D

So far your responses are right along with what I was thinking. I definately will not give more than a $1000 for it. Thanks for your help and time.

Bob, I know where their is a white 79 in Hemby Acres. It's looks stock & in pretty good shape. I need to get by there & ask some questions.

For something thats been sitting for a few years, long enough for the paint to fade, $1000 is a bit much IMO. If it's been sitting for that long, the brakes might need work (froze calipers/rusted lines), the fuel tank could be full of nasty bad gas, tires are probably cracked and/or worn, and the worst one of all...rodent damage. I've bought many of this type of vehicle and all these problems have come with the vehicle. If they're willing to sell it, ask them if you could take a close look at it. If any of what I've mentioned above are wrong with it, I'd start low, like scrap value$75-$100. But, for a 5th gen thats been sitting, I'd go no higher that $500. I bought an '84 a couple years ago that had been sitting, it had a blown 305 and a smashed 1/4 panel, but it was solid with a good interior. I paid a whole $50 for it. Couple years before that I bought an excellent running '79 and a rusted body and junk frame for $400 (the engine and trans now live in my '78).
