Check with stock car prodicts to see if they have a bolt in for you. It may be costly but it will be right. And, 9in is the only thing ford did right.

I did a 9" for my 83 project, you might find this write up helpful,

Mike, you are one cool dude!!:smileyb: Great job on that rear.
My 9" has an even lower ratio than yours, 2.50:1. As we both know, the Caddy is a low RPM torque monster.

Doing a conversion on a Ford rear isn't for everybody of course, and since I know very little about Fords, I bought mine from Currie.

When I bought mine, the price for a Chevy 12-bolt, at the same place, was more money than a 9" Ford. Don't really understand that:dontknow:

I'm really don't know, but how close would have a 3rd Gen rear end have been to fitting a 4th Gen Bill?

Don't really know Mike. :dontknow: One of my reasons for the 9" was the easily changed 3rd member Vs the other style (integral carrier). I hate working on those!!

Sorry to hijack but are a 3rd gen 12 bolt and a ford 9" about the same? What's the difference?

Ones made by Chevy, ones made by Ford....... honestly for a bolt in 9" I had great experience with a company called Quick performance, its $795 for the bolt in housing, Chevy bolt pattern moser axles, and axle bearings
