My first was a badly beaten 87, but about two weeks after getting it I found my 85 ss that I've had ever since and I'm happy with my decision. However I will say it had its qualities.

I had my first one 20+ years (74 model) It had 260,000 miles on it when I sold it. The body was worn out but I had replaced the motor less than 6000 miles before.
You never forget your first!!!!!

Bought my SS El Camino new in 1980-& I still own it ! It was my daily driver for 15 years(I moved our whole household with it twice)It was a first place show winner at the 2009 & 2010 All GM Nationals & Super Chevy Shows, It is white over Bronze-you can see it on the 5th gen Calender photos. The 8 track tape player still works, & the manual transmission makes it fun to drive.

My 1st was a 77. Had it in high school. Unfortunately, growing up near the beach in Florida had the expected result on the body.

Well, I had a Ranchero GT once (I know, blasphemy!) Cool car. Made me think of getting another one or an Elco. The Elco won out. I get all kinds of questions about it when I drive it to work.

Guess, I am the old man in this crowd. I bought my first one (Black) 6 cylinder new in Joplin Missouri in 1959 for less than $2,000.00 and sold steam cleaners and demonstrated same out of the bed of the El Camino. No Air Conditioning or power anything. Glad to have just a radio. On my 5th El Camino. New one is the 1987 GMC Caballero with 44 thousand miles.

My first was a 78 and I drove it for almost 200,000 miles. The frame finally gave out so I junked it and now I own a 83.

Still have my first. A 1983 SS that I bought in '99 before I even had my license. She sat in the driveway for a year til I could drive. Way too many memories to ever get rid of it: first trip to the drag strip, first date with a girl, first time getting pulled over by the cops...the kind of memories that no price can make up for. Im planning a complete frame-up restoration in the next few years with all brand new parts; including a 450hp 383 stroker from proformance unlimited.

Bought a 1975 GMC Sprint when I turned 16 and owned it until I finished college. Sold it in 1990.... Man that car was awesome, really miss it...

I did end up buying a 1971 El Camino in 2000 which I still have and continue to work on. My goal is to make it as nice as the 1975 Sprint I grew up with..

My first Elco was a '73, that I bought in Texas, while I was there after flying a Grumman Albatros down to Addison, in 1975. Bought the Elco from the company that owned the airplane, and drove it home. Don't miss it, since I've owned only 4 th gen Elcos, which are mostly all the same :smileyb:

My first was a 79 conquista, had a lot of miles on it and was starting to smoke (305 need to say more) on startup. Built a sb 400 with a mile cam. Ran the 2 1/4 pipe single exhaust (worked at the TG & Y shop as a muffler guy) all the way out the back. Would set you back in the seat for a while when you took off. Then along came the kid and needed something with more room.:frown2:
