Near Charleston, WV. Lots of cruise-ins/shows around here. I posted those pics so the new guys could realize that there are other, less expensive ways to do quality work, and that you don't need a shop full of tools to accomplish it.

Saw the Lincoln crossmember at the recycling yard (one for BIG stuff, not for alum cans) and grabbed it for like $8 cause it looked like I could cut out the humps and have them welded into my stock crossmember. When I got it home, took some measurements and it practically fell in! The 2 big stuff recycling yards around here will loan you a hard hat and let you go walking around in the yard looking for stuff if you stop in the office and tell them what you are up to. They get cars and all sizes of trucks in there all the time. Plus lots of interesting things you can use, like sheets of alum mesh (grills/hood scoop openings), plate/bars/tubing in all diameters in steel, alum, or stainless steel, just about anything you can imagine. If you ask, sometimes they have (they keep this inside) brass/copper in various forms. A 4 in long piece of 1-2 in dia brass rod makes a great driver that won't tear up threads, thin stainless or alum rod/tubing can be grill bars, etc.

Some of the more-interesting later pic appear to only be thumbnail-sized now. Did they get reduced in size by photobucket somehow??

Keyser, THANKS for the tip on the Lincoln cross member. The late 90s Crown Vic is the same. Just used one in an A body with very little mod needed. Light - strong and looks like it was made for it.
