: Flame's out the pipes!
80elcamino 04-01-2004, 08:22 PM Hey Guys, I'm new to car modification and my elky is older than me by about 6 years. With that out of the way, I'm trying to find a way to make my elky spit fire out the exhaust. I know that I'll need an extra coil and spark plug[right?], but as far as the wiring and general setup I'm clue-less.
Any help?!
Alchemist 04-02-2004, 02:24 AM http://www.websmileys.com/sm/happy/1203.gif You're trying to get yours to shoot flames...and i'm trying to get mine to stop! http://www.websmileys.com/sm/happy/1203.gif
There's several ways...but most of the rods you see doin' it also have manual choke controls to make it easy to dump excess fuel in the system (and out the pipes). ;)
80elcamino 04-02-2004, 08:02 AM Interesting fact: my car runs very rich so i thought "why not exploit this?". This is why i thought it'd be neat!
Flame Throwers (http://www.ennisenterprises.net/so-cheap/flames/)
a73elkyss 04-02-2004, 01:54 PM I saw this at the New England Summer Nationals last year. Is this the type of "flames" your looking to produce out of your Elky??? That would be one mean and awesome Elky.

And no, I didn't park to close to this flamethrower or any of the others that were there......
Mrapii 04-02-2004, 03:08 PM Instead of flames out the tailpipes what about this:

80elcamino 04-02-2004, 03:27 PM Yes those are the types of flames that I'd like, but maybe 2-3 feet long.
Second, Those aren't flames; that's an illuminated NOS purge. (but nice suggestion)
Now, anyone know how to do it? :P
80elcamino 04-02-2004, 03:31 PM Yeah, just looked at 87SS's post, and it think that that's what i'm looking for.
I'm still blown away that some other person (on ECC) has not done this on an elky.
83choochoo 04-02-2004, 05:03 PM Now you got me thinking about doing the flame shooting thing.
80elcamino 04-02-2004, 05:26 PM Great! Then we can call ourselves the FLAMERS...
On second thought, maybe not. [insert gay reference here] :-)
Black Knight 04-02-2004, 05:47 PM you guyz (and galz) be careful playing in traffic
davedorr 04-02-2004, 06:01 PM Now you got me thinking about doing the flame shooting thing.
Me too. Kinda makes me want to find a Caballero Diablo.
Mrapii 04-02-2004, 06:16 PM Flames out the back, nitrous purge at the windshield and steam from an overheated radiator--you'll really be smoking.
Rob Kozak 04-04-2004, 06:09 AM There is a kit by a company called Auto Loc. It interupts the ignition and lets the fuel fill the exhaust. You can cantrol this with a switch inside the car. They cost about 90 bucks.

65Elco 04-04-2004, 07:06 PM Someone at the route 66 Rendezvous told me that he ran 2 lines from a propane tank back to his tail pipes. I think he said that the outlets were about a foot in front of the igniters. This might be a lot better for your engine than running to rich. Sounds like a great way to handle tailgaiters.

I like that idea!!!
propane is relatively cheap, and I've already run rich on one engine!!!
that is why my 400 is in individual pieces. (The sum of the parts DOES NOT equal the source)
Gozer 04-05-2004, 09:41 AM Speaking of propane flamethowers on cars - does anyone remember when these little kits made news?

Interesting little QT clip of it in action.
Mrapii 04-05-2004, 11:44 AM Could use that flamethrower kit in bumper to bumper to bumper traffic. Once you roast a couple of fellow commuters the rest of them will give you a wide berth.
