14101083 is a head casting number, heads could be from anywhere and not be related to the block. Those are a GMPP head though, and they should also have a date code. What's the engine block casting number?

If there's nothing on the front of the block where the VIN specific numbers usually are that's a good sign it's a crate, or that someone went a little crazy decking the block. :poke: No real way to tell much more that I can think of without seeing the date code on the head or block, or both of course.

No specific year range for the head casting numbers are listed for that head, which makes the 8 which is the year code raise some questions. What you have is K (November), 15 (15th), 8 (most likely '98 ). I say '98 since just from memory I think they started making that 285/300 HP head as a GMPP around the mid 90's. Which would rule out 1988, and I am pretty sure they stopped before 2008 which would be the other option for 8, and also I think you'd know if they were that new. So based on what you've given I'm guessing 11/15/98, 285/300 HP head. But we really need that engine casting number and if possible the engine block date code too to determine if it's a full crate or not. These heads were sold as their own separate set and were a popular upgrade to be thrown on an older engine. So you may still have an older engine that someone removed the VIN code with swapped on GMPP heads. I'm betting you probably do have a full crate engine swap, but there's no way to be sure yet.
