Well I tried (and tried again) and finally got a decent paint job completed . It still has some runs I got to get out in a couple of spots and a few dimples (I blame the gun :dontknow: ), but it is looking much better that I ever expected for my first paint job by myself since I helped my father 15 years ago. I gambled on a dark color but pleased with results.

Now I just got to find the chrome pieces for around the windshield. New after market are pretty high. A buddy of mine told me someone may make a black rubber gasket for the 5th gens. Any one know if this could be true? Chrome would be nice though.

El Camino looks great in the pics. :nanawrench: Water sand the runs out and buff it. Do you want a used set of front windsheild moldings or a polished set that has a mirror reflection to them? I have both. I have a set that i have polished to mirror finish with no dings or scratch's in them any where that i was going to use on my 79 el camino but i sold it today. I have a used set to but they are not polished and do not have a mirror finish to them and might have a few tiny dings and lite scratch's like all used trim moldings do. If you might be interested in either set, contact me at larrys70sschevelle@yahoo.com and let me know.

Good job! BTW, any window trim from a Malibu or Monte Carlo g-body will work. My windshield trim on my Elky was pretty banged up, but I salvaged a complete set off of an '85 Monte and it was a perfect fit.

Hey that a good job , and to think you first. there oe two wrecking yards in Abilene one is Mike's Wrecking and there # 1 800 592 4676. They have a few G body cars you can get what need from them. Also there is F M 600 Wrecking, Inc. And they also have 4 and 4 gen cars.

Looks Great! A little wet sanding and buffing should take care of all those small problems.

Thanks everyone. I will try more wet sanding in a couple of weeks (when it gets really hard LOL). The dimples will be more of a problem to fix I think.

I have a couple of avenues now for window trim. I do have extra LH and RH bed rails if anyone needs them. They are in fair condition.

Good job.
I am using rubber side molding from "Brandsport.com".
Not same size as original on the bumper, but as a replacement for the side molding to keep the little old ladies car doors off my side panels, it works great.
