Hello.

I purchased a B&M Quicksilver Shifter for my 76 elky.

My mechanic phoned me today telling me he will not install it for me as he never had an automatic transmission in the shop (We europeans... :poke:)

Now im thinking about installing it myselfe, but I have zero mechanical experience or knowledge.

Is it easy to install? Would you do it if you where me? What can go wrong?

Thanks guys.:You_Rock:

I have the Mega Shifter in mine. The hardest part is drilling the hole for the cable. Which just takes locating the right spot. If you follow the directions you should have no problems. Pretty simple install.
Measure twice and drill once.

there is nothing real technical about installing the shifter. just make sure you get the cable strait thru the tunnel hump with no binding on the sides or top it will make the shifter shift hard if it stress the cable there. adjustment is simple and covered well in the instructions. the neuteral saftey switch and backup light switch will have to be wired in to the shifter and stock column switch bypassed. Again very simple, just a little time consuming. there is a wiring schematic on here that will show what color the wires you will need to use are.
Read the instructions a couple times before ya start. then just take your time .

Id like to piggyback on this one. I was thinking of doing the same thing on mine, but I already have the shifter on the floor. Should I be able to use my original shifter cable and basically just swap out the stock shifter?
