There is no pride in that car, he bought it that way, what he can't build his own, I have never entered a show I like to just drive mine past the judges station and watch thier jaws drop:nanawrench:

Careful what you say there, he's a member here and a good friend of mine. And he has plenty of pride in it. He's done plenty to it sence he's had it.
And something else to think about is (NAS/JRB FT WORTH )
If that has no meaning to you I'm sure a couple of F15s can make it clearer:poke:

It's nice but it's only worth as much as he gets for it.

Thanks for sticking up for me, Donny. I wasn't going to comment on this post, but rather sit back and enjoy everyones comments since it is my car, but had to step in when the pot-shot came in.

I have a lot of pride in this cruck; it's unfortunate that I have to let it go. I have another cruck that I redid myself back in the early '90s and that I am redoing again with the help of a shop here in TX (since I don't have the time or space it is all my ideas, but most of their labor). There is a story behind this cruck I bought.

Back in '04 I was reassigned overseas from NJ; I left my 79 Elky with a shop in NJ that was supposed to do a complete frame-off redo for me. The guy hit me up for a nice size down payment to get started. Well he did nothing except steal a mirror off of her, park her out back where it could serve as a rat nest, rot off the frame and he declared bancruptcy.

My parents spent the better part of '05 & '06 fighting with this guy to get my Elky back let alone my money. They didn't think that I would ever see either again. Well when they finally told me this, I went and found this car on e-Bay and bought it. This car was close enough to my vison for my '79 that I thought it would fill the hole in my heart left by the thought that had lost it.

My father went to NY to check this thing out, make the payment for me, then arrange for its transport to their home in FL where they put their cars out in the street so that my "replacement" could be kept indoors. My parents paid for the transport, title transfer, registration and insurance for two years while I was still overseas.

Meanwhile, their fight continued and they were able to get my '79 back for me and I resumed my quest to create the cruck that I wanted.

Pride comes in many forms; there is the pride of building a car, the pride of owning a car, and there is the pride of knowing the pains that your family will go through to help you when you are in need.

Please think again before you pass judgement on anyone else's cars and what pride they may feel about them. While I did not build this cruck myself, and have only physically had it for a limited amount of time (didn't finally drive it till Nov '08 ), this El Camino has become just as important to me as my '79, and I wil be sad to see it go.

Thanks everybody for your supportive comments; I'll let you know how much this new friend sells for.

I too know the cruck, and it is worthy of all the pride that Gregg has in it - and worthy of the repeated trophies and accolades showered upon it at most shows where it is entered. It competes well in either truck, cruck, or car class, and has beaten the infamous firetruck on at least one occasion, a feat that neither I nor Donny has accomplished.

Please let's not be so quick to pass summary judgement before knowing the rest of the story. If you're not familiar with a cruck in question, ask questions before shooting from the hip - that way you can be ready before you aim and fire...............Ken

Where I come from, Greg, it's called 'taking the high road' - which translated, means not dropping to someone elses level when responding to their, shall we say, opinion. And I do mean, in this case, dropping. Nice note, thanks for sharing the history with us.

Wow, no offense to the owner but whoever sunk that much money into that thing must've been smoking crack. $100K is prolly what you'd get if that thing was in mint condition from the factory at a Barrett Jackson auction. What in god's name costs $100K in that thing! lol. (In pure curiosity mind you, not being condescending). I tried to find it but the motor is just a 350, so that wasn't much. Rubber and rim was probably steep, but still... Looks like most of the money went into the interior, but I fail to see how spending more than 1K on a stereo system is justified. I don't know, I must've been raised in a different era... Like everyone else said, it's not a BAD vehicle, just one with too fat of a price tag on it for the average budget.
