: Yes I am New
Warren 04-05-2004, 01:48 PM Hello All. I love the site. I had a 1976 elCamino classic that I blew the engine on when I was in college. The car is sitting in a barn now, and one day I will get to making it like it was supposed to be. For now I just purchased myself a 2004 Pontiac GTO. Let me tell you, those Holden boys know how to put together a car! It is Tons of Fun!
I hope that Chevrolet takes a cue from Pontiac, and has Holden produce the new elCamino, based off of the Holden Ute. My new GTO will be traded in quickly. The Ute SS has the same engine, and it is an elCamino. Everyone knows the old saying "The front is like a car, the back is like a truck. The front is where you drive, the back is where you .... elCamino!"

We've all been saying that too. I'd trade in my Elky for a new Ute.

Thanks for the reply. I really miss cruising around in my elCamino. Find a site like this, and you start wondering....... Should I have got the new GTO, or spent the money on restoring the elCamino??? I guess I will never know now. I think it is best that I wait a few years, so that '76 sheet metal is more availible.
Kansascamino 04-06-2004, 05:19 AM Welcome to the best El Camino site Warren. We are going to have the Region 12 spring meet and greet on May 8th in Wichita. Stop by and say and see us and check out all the great cars. Right now you can get two El Camino's for $500, 1978 and 1982 parts cars. They might be just what you need to get yours up and running again. Send me a note if you are interested.

ElkyPete 04-06-2004, 07:59 AM Welcome to ECC / NECOA
I wouldn't think that GM would do the Holden UTE, maybe a "New version" Camaro but I would guess that the SSR is as close to the Elky as GM will ever get again. NO its not an Elky but its closer than the S10s. Actually I think its a Modified Yukon / S10 combo.
Anyway I digress welcome to the site and lets get that 4th generation Elky up and going again. Everyone "Needs" an El Camino!

Kansascamino 04-06-2004, 10:05 AM Speaking of a new El Camino has anyone see the consept that Mitsubishi is showing? Well it looks like a four door El Camino with a rumble seat. I think it is time GM got off there cans and did something before the foreign market beats them to it. As always they will be a day late and a dollar short in the market place, as they are always asleep at the wheel.

I looked it up, and I will be working that weekend, but would love to attend.

I wouldnt bet against it. Lutz loves the Holden lineup, and there has been mention about the UTE coming over as the new elCamino. The SSR is a nitche vehicle, produced for those who want something unique. With Holden's UTE, Chevy could bring back something that they have not had in a while, and with several different platforms.
