: Anyone using GTA wheels on 5th gen?

Just bought a set of Trans Am GTA wheels off Ebay (front 4" backspace and rear 4 5/8" backspace). Was wondering if anyone has them on a 5th gen, what you had to do in order for them to fit, (what size spacer) and what size tires? Any other problems I should know about? Mr Gasket makes a 7/16" wheel spacer...is this sufficient, it's the widest I can find?

Four fronts is ideal.

From what I have heard, in your situation, you want Fronts on the rear (4" BS will work fine) and Rears on the front with a spacer. The 7/16" might work with just a little rubbing of the frame at full lock.

Yes, I heard this also. But I've also read that that body height (especially lowering) has something to do with this also, and weather or not the body mount bushings are good. I'm trying to find someone who (first hand) actually has them on their 5th gen Elky and what they actually did to get them on there. Looking for another pair of fronts is out of the question. The backspace of 4 5/8" of the rears (really a 16mm offset) should be correctable to 4" if a 5/8 wheel spacer is used...I would think. Problem is the widest wheel spacer I have found is a only 7/16"

You don't want to go too thick with the wheel spacers, it causes too much sheer stress on the wheel studs. I think 1/2" is enough and I would also use longer and higher strenght wheel studs (ARP and Moroso make them). There are wheel spacers that you can stack. Two 1/4" spacers will give you 1/2".

on my old 5th gen i had some firebird formula wheels (off a 3rd gen firebird) and i needed a big spacer in there. i highly suggest using 4 fronts. the 3rd gen rear wheels have way too much bs. oh and fyi the formy wheels have the same bs as the gta's

I used 4 fronts with no spacers. 245's all around.
