Hey guys, I am installing my brake booster with new master cylinder. The car came with power brakes but the guy i bought the car from didnt have a brake booster. The one I ordered from summit is tilting up when the mounting plate sits flush on the firewall.

Are your guys brake boosters tilted up?

How far back should my brake pedal go before I can attach to the brake booster rod?
1/2 inch? 1 inch? 2 inch?

Thanks guys for the help...

I'm sure someone will chime in that has a 3rd gen. If he had converted it to manual brakes the pedal arm has two holes in it. 1 for manual and one for power. the pedal will be lower with the power brakes.

on my 72 the brake booster is tilted up causing the brake fluid reservoir to also be angled up.

That's normal. I was confounded by it as well... until I realized that when you relocate the push rod clevis to the lower hole on the brake pedal... it (the push rod that is) lines up straight to the master cylinder like its supposed to.

Yep, mine is tilted up. I has to do with the alignment of the brake rod to the booster... Don't make the mistake I made...I filled the rear of the master too full...fluid leaked out and down the booster onto the frame.
Brake fluid is "PAINT REMOVER".:let_it_all_out:
