I currently have the sport ( Teardrop) mirrors on my '85. I would like to go to Electric Power mirrors. I've searched, but can find no info on anyone doing this on an '85, and keeping them in the same location ( just got out of paint!). I don't mind drilling an extra hole or two, but I want to avoid having to weld up the old holes and re-paint- too much cost for the benefit.

Anyone had any success with a project like this? Any inputs would be appreciated. Leaning towards using '91-94 caprice mirrors??

darbysan have you considered using the mirrors that came on the Elco and converting them to electric? If you can do that it would eliminate any welding on the vehicle,

I know on My 86 monte SS that has the sport mirrors only available from 86-88 can be swapped with the guts of a 89-92 camaro that has power mirrors, just use your shell but need all the insides from the camaro [mirror, wiring, etc].
