if anyone would like to point me in the right direction with some of these issues that would be GREAT! the electrical thing is a real pain

(note the mess of wires to the left might have something to do with it??!?!?!? hate it when people "try it themselves" and have absolutely no idea)

85 ss supposedly i was told its just a trim level and not indicated on the vin so im not 100% sure but i was told it was an SS when i bought it. and yeah easy fixes im mainly concerned about the electrical im seriously considering a new wiring harness for the whole car. when i turn on the blinkers it acts as though the hazard lights are on :smileyb: and none of the gauges work so i get gas frequently :???: I wasnt to sure about the whole 2 seater at first but im lovin this car.

I'm sure your electrical is a lot more complicated than mine. I used a shop service manual and my AIM to figure out what had been modified on my 72. was able to bring it back to pretty much stock.

Had the same problems on my vette. Turned out to be the printed circuit board on back of cluster.

I had it all out today and it looked to be in okay... condition im not sure what they look like when they go bad im positive there is something very wrong somewhere and i would love for it to be that simple so what does a bad one look like? pictures anyone :You_Rock: or what are some immediate signs

Mine was easy to spot. Had a burned spot in one place and a break in another. After i replaced it i also found a bad ground. typical with older vettes. Good luck

For your blinkers, check the grounds and make sure they are clean. for the other stuff just take it one at a time and start tracing your wires. its a pain but doable. Looks like a nice car. stay patient and persistent.

First place to look for electrical problems is the ground under the dash on the driver's side, near where the dash is bolted to the body, above the parking brake area. That ground in most Elcos has a black wire running into the harness behind the dash, where a bunch of ground wires are spliced together. It's shown in wiring diagrams. Making sure of the grounds will save some jumping around to find some of the problems.
GM didn't do a very good job on making sure that major ground would be permanent and trouble free.
