Hey gang
I'm looking for a little help. I do not have a body manual for my 82 Conquista two tone and its time to strip paint and redo her. Can someone post something on techniques and tips for removing the chome trim? If someone can provide access to this section of a body manual that woud be great too.
Thanks much and have a great weekend!

the wheel well trim is easy to get off its just screwed on tot he finder lips. if you have the side trim it might be glued on still easy just work slow so you don't bend it, i used denatured alcohol to loosen up the glue and not harm the paint. the bed trim is both screwed on and has clips that you have to be careful with as they tend to break when i pulled mine off i ended up buying new ones because i broke all but one. and the windshield trims are press in i think its been a while on that and i'm not sure anymore. mostly go slow and watch those little plastic clips.

I replaced all my chrome and as I took it off especially if they where plastic clips, I just had to buy new ones for them, especially the back window trim and front window trim. My is not two-tone but around the wheel wells, you just new a small screw driver, not sure if this helps much, mainly go slow taking it all off. Michael

The trim removal tools they sell at the parts store will help with not breaking some of the metal clips. I found some of these tools made of plastic on the Mac Tool Truck, I like using them around the windshield and back glass so as not nick the glass edge.9 times out of 10 the glass will crack from one of those nicks. Everybodys right about replacing a lot of the clips, especialy the plastic ones. They will hold much better when you reassemble.

Thanks all...I was just wondering if there was a body guy out there with some magic way to get thre trim off easily without busting the clips but I knew that was wishfull thinking. The old clips are original and brittle anyway so it looks like El Camino Central will make a few bucks off me before this project is all over. I do have the plastic tools, all Harbor Freight which is a big improvement over marking the paint and chrome up with the old srew driver method.
