I have an '82 SS with SS dash (tach and the like) and my gas guage and temperature guage sometimes wind up pegged to the right. They come and go but recently the have always been pegged. Where do i begin. I assume it is a loose connection but where could it be? has anybody else had this problem?

I also have an 82 SS. And I have had the identical problem. I found it to be a dirty connector. It was the main connector that plugs into the back of the cluster. I used some steel wool to clean the terminals - both the male and the female. Be sure to blow out the connectors before re-assembling.

I had exactly the same problem. Cleaned the connector with contact cleaner (from Radio Shack) and a little scotchbrite pad. BTW local Chevy dealer cost some serious $$ to misdiagnose it.
