I have finally got around to creating an album (5th gen page 13) with some photos of our project so far. Photos don't do the Black Cherry justice. Hopefully this weekend we will finish up the bodywork and primer. Hope to block sand and have ready to shoot the outside in a week or two! Michael is rebuilding a 350 to go in it and we have completely went over the frame and suspension.

Nice, I wish I had the time to do a job like that. I need mine to be drivable by the end of the month.

:-P Looks Great!

Just curious, what brand paint did you use?

See Ya,
Alan

Thanks for the posts!

Not sure on the heads, I'll ask my son on that. I think they are standard 350 heads that the local machine shop went through for him. He has the 350 block bored, a new crank, pistons and rods that he is working on at work between things.

I'm using PPG Omni BC/CC for this. I've been pretty happy with that line for us before. One project we tried using the single stage PPG paint that had the clear in with the paint. It was Ford red and took a lot of coats to get good coverage. Not sure if that was the pant or the color. This covered much better on the firewall and door jambs but I still noticed if you don't get plenty on.. the color is off.

This weekend we did get it all under primer and of course I found more work to do. Looks like block sanding this week and probably another shot of primer next weekend.

I got a quote on PPG today, OUCH! Guess I won't be shooting with that. Probably use Western instead (they are premixed custom colors from Sherwin-Williams Automotive). I used it on my Mustang and it turned out nice.

I primed/block sanded as well today. Body isn't as straight as I want but it's good enough for a real nice work truck. More priming/sanding tomorrow then Wednesday I shoot. Tomorrow I make the final decision on the paint. I was REALLY wanting the Sunburst Copper but my funds won't allow. Closest thing is Sienna. I like the Black Cherry but there are a few around here that color and my body is completely perfect so I need a bit lighter color. Almost considering Raspberry Mist now.
