I have a 1978 el camino and I recently replaced my stock alternator, changed it over to a one wire alternator setup, since doing that the alternator Isn't charging the battery I have checked everything I can think of, cant figure It out. such a simple setup one wire from the alt. to the battery. Any help would be great.

try jumping from the battery terminal to the #2 (field) terminal while it is idling and see if it kicks in. If it does just make your jumper permanent. the #1 terminal turns the light on the dash off and on.
