Ok i recently bought an elky from a guy in cincy he said it has a "shift kit".... ok heres my question on a 350/350 set up what are the "standard" shift times or about when should it shift. seems like it jumps straight to 3rd gear and has no power unless i jam on it in which case it shifts down to second and is fine. i feel as though it should hold 2nd gear out longer but not sure since im used to a 700r4. maybe it needs fresh fluid who knows.

The TV cable,(throttle -valve) connected to the carb arm may need to be adjusted. That valve, would affect shift and down-shift points. I believe the governor may affect it too.
Maybe John B will chime in here, he's a trans man...

Make sure the vaccum modulator is plugged in correctly, passenger side of tranny midway back.

There are two types of TV cable adjustment set-ups. The one I'm familiar with is a collar on the cable housing just behind the bracket at the carb, where the throttle and trans TV cables are mounted. The collar can be pried up to let the cable housing move. When the housing is free to move, the throttle on the carb is moved to wide open, pulling the TV cable with the slot, to that position, and when it's in that position, the collar is snapped back down to retain the cable housing. Get a look at the way it's set up. Of course if the Edlebrock wasn't set up correctly, with a throttle arm that accepts the TV cable etc, you may have to do something else. A few pics of the cables at the carb would help the folks here to help you.

On the th350. The cable is only for passing gear. IF it was disconnected the only result is no passing gear (2-3 down shift)IF it shift's into 3rd too quick then put lighter spring's in the governer OR pick up a orange stripe modulator and it's adjustable so u can adj your shift point's. Most shift kit's have heavy spring's for the Governor. OR even try a stock Governor. iF the vac. hose is off of the modulator, it might not even go into 3rd and have very late shift's. Hope this helps. C-ya Scott
