Sweet set up. How much did that cost to get it like that?

/\ is ridiculous.

What do you guys do with your spare tire? Just get AAA and say screw it?

I just picked up a donut from a salvage yard for $15. It looks like it's never been used. It's a little dirty. I'm going to clean it up and rattle-can paint the rim.

yea, i removed the spare tire from the rear shelf in my'87, i needed the room to put an amp and hidden stereo sound system down there. i figured, if i need help, i can call someone, but for long trips(mine is a daily driver) i throw it in the bed and strap it down( so it wont hit the subs in my bed)

Same as me, I just strap the doughnut down in the bed and call it good. My fiberglassed box fills up the back part of my smugglers den. I am waiting for summer to finish it, I have more projects to do first.

mounted the spare in the bed to get the box ready for the sounds

There is a video of that lime green camino on youtube.. pretty trick using linear actuators for the tv and grille activated via remote. Bet he's popular at the tailgate party

I'm doing the work myself- personally i couldnt go with anything small, and yes I do have gold membership AAA, and better than nothing i leave the spare tire in the back hoping nobody takes it lol

RIght now i'm using 2-10s cvr tucked in the smugglers box, and 2-4 inches cut into the side doors(by the P.O) i took apart the doors and am trying to recreate better sounding environment...

I'm gonna add a 4 inch to the far bottom side of the door, and a 6.5'' (with cross over and tweeter) close to the bottom middle of the door as well as RattleTrap(not entirely but most of the door)

Including a spray can of sound deadener and spraying the outer skin on the inside of the door..

Lastly taking apart all the carpet and headliner, cover it with Fatmat rattle trap even the SMUGGLER's box and you will find it HELLUVA quieter and SOUNDS AWESOME! people dont believe it that i got 2-10s tucked inside the smuggler box:secret:http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w409/HIS80andHERs86/80elcodoorshot.png
http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w409/HIS80andHERs86/subsbox.png

its all the pictures i have, but i do have extended knowledge of how to make it LOUD or LOUDER if you will... I just cannot live with having just 2-6x9s in the car... it just isnt me haha

I'm a loyal KICKER CVX fan!! but CVRS are cool, dont ever get hte COMPS its a waste of $ compared to the CVRs u get 300 more rms out of each sub for few more dollars each sub:beer:

Bout $100

if ur referring to the comp and CVRs not true, i bought 2-cvrs for $80.. almost like new... more than one occasion

as for the CVXs, they are a bit of a challenge but i've gotten them so many times that i know what they can be bought and sold for how cheap they can go for etc...

the cheapest it can go for would be about $150-200 for a pair of 10s or 12s... (NON 2011)

craiglist.com or ebay.com they're your best friend when it comes to subwoofers or AMPs

Here is a pic of the box I just finished, I haven't reintalled since carpet. It's for a 66, gonna make a matching one for 64, hits really well. Had a box with 4 10's, this hits just as hard, more airspace/power to each sub. Didn't change anything else. I'm running OLD amps, one Kenny to subs, Sony to mid/highs. Sounds as good or better for systems that cost 3x what I have into it. I bought the amps and original box in 1989, have since replace deck(twice) and all speakers. I will try to get some pix of how I have highs set up, although they will be getting redone soon. Let me know what you think.....

Pro Street Gary... Thanks bro, as you can tell that emblem is from a 65 i had sitting around, i'm going to paint the bowtie before I reinstall box. First box I've made, so it was as much of an experiment as anything else.

Its a mess behind the seat right now, but heres mine, 2- 12inch Kicker L5 subs and 4- kicker 6.5 mids and highs, i have a pair of pioneer tweeters in the A-pillar and a pair under where the seatbelts come out under the back glass.

zach01s, is there any advantage/disadvantage to mounting subs outside box/inside out? I've seen it done in several pix on the net, but have never spoken to someone about it. I understand all the airspace w/in the box is unimpeded by the sub itself, but how do they sound? Is the airspace the only reason to do that? Thanks for any info.

theyre mounted inverted because of how deep the sub is and the way the box was built fitting into the smugglers box they had to be mounted that way. also, it does kinda keep the subs cooler when you beat up on them, since the magnent and coil side get cool fresh air, instead of hot air in a sealed box.

and yes, youre right as well, the box airspace doesent have to move around the basket of the sub so it makes a cleaner, quicker thump.

i have seen setups where they have two subs, mounted facing each other and wired backwards from each other, in one box. one pulls and the other pushes at the same time. if you have high power systems it makes a difference.

but to answer your question, they sound good. it hits hard enough to mess with your vision and you definitley feel it in your chest lol.
