I ran across this lift option today that looks interesting. It is called EZCARLIFT. Gives 26" of lift, you can drive over it, leave it stored on the floor or lean it up against the wall, it's portable ( for car shows, etc). You can add wheels and roll the car around in the shop. Driven up/down by a 3/8" drill. A little expensive at $2K, but there are group purchases available with some pretty good discounts.

Let me know your thoughts. I'm going to SEMA next week, and if I get enough interest, I'll approach them and see what they can do for us.

Looks nice, but it also looks like something that should cost $700-$900, not 2k. There are a lot better options out there for the money. It's a bit too pricey.

That looks like something a Redneck would buy to work on his lawn mower if it was $19.95. Sorry:nanawrench::nanawrench:

I have 4 of them in my shop. That's what we put cars on to pull tranny's out. They're really nice! On really big trucks, we use 2 of them. It's a cheap alternative to conventional lifts. Besides that, even though they aren't as safe, what's insurance for anyway?

I'M KIDDING!!! On big trucks we only use one! :nana2:

Hmmmm.... "lifts up to 4400 lbs". That's pushing the limit then with an EC! And I can forget either of my other trucks.

2 large on that is definitely too much. You can get one of those Max Jacks for that much money.

OK, I do have real lifts. Here's a video from U-Tube of me and my shop(turn up sound). There are two shops connected to make one. I have one truck 4 post lift in shop A, and two 2 post lifts in shop B. In the middle of the shops there is a wide doorway that connects the 2 shops. You really can't see that in this video. This video is also on Yelp & My website.

I'm afraid, I'd have to pass. 2 post or 4 post lift would be my preferance for not much more money.
For real Mike, you use those to pull transmissions??? I know it could be done, but, but, but, uhhhhh

That's why I want a 2 post lift. Pulling transmissions.

Hotrod! Did you see my last post? C'mon now! I've never done anything that would be unsafe in my shop. About 10 years ago I found a small hairline crack in one of my lift arms. Only about 1/4 inch long. Next week, ALL NEW LIFTS! I don't take chances on anything when it comes to safety! bowtie smile

Its an interesting idea.

But for 2k... i could think of something better to put in the elky, and spend less thant 100$ a day to rent a full booth at local hobby shop.

Dont think its worth it though. :/

I assumed you were kidding Mike, but sure didn't want to be offensive if you weren't, so I played neutral. Even if they were safe, laying on the back to R&R transmissions isn't any fun, although I've done many that way. Now that I am older and picky, I rarely do them that way. However, I don't trust shops to be as picky as I am, so I do R&R my own the old fashioned way.

If I had $2K to play with, you can bet, I'd glady have have a 2 or 4 post lift at my home, and it would certainly pay for itself in a short time. But, that's JMO and my outlook. Not everyone looks at it that way. :nanawrench:

Nice video Mike! And I agree with the general concensus, 2K is outta site for the product. I don't blame them for trying to get all they can, that's the capitalist way. Wait a while. They'll make it in china for $40, ship it over for $40, sell it for $160. And throw in the drill.

Of course 2 or 4 post is preferred, but many of us have 8 or 9 foot ceilings in our garage at home, and have to work around that limitation. The original one posted would do that, but as I said was expensive. The MaxJac is a good alternative, if you have a place to store them. We also have a problem out West here, as most of the newer houses were made with Post Tension rods in the garage floor. You have to be very careful when drilling/cutting in the floor so that you don't hit one of the rods.

Now that I'm old enough to get the Denny's discount, I find it harder and harder to get up off the floor. I'll either need to find a solution, or reduce the projects:dontknow:

Interesting lift, but kinda steep on price. Good info from all.

Darbysan, You are absolutely correct on the ceiling height for two post lifts !! I had a brain fart as I didn't even think about that problem. The lift in question is a neat lift but seems to be way overpriced, but maybe not in comparison to other similar products. Here;s a link to a very reputable dealer in our area :http://www.eagleequip.com/automotive-shop-equipment/2-post-car-lifts.html Look at the Low and Mid Rise lifts to compare it to the one that started this thread, and it comes with its own pump .

Yep, my current garage is so small that even the Maxjax would cause me problems, not only in size but also in lift height. I've got an offer on a house now that has an 8-car garage with 12' ceilings, and already had a lift installed. Garage is attached, is insulated, has a swamp cooler installed, full bath, and 18 4' lights in the ceiling. Just hope the offer goes through. Oh, I forgot to look at the rest of the house- hope it is OK:nanawrench:

That's the truth. When I bought my house, I wanted to see the garage, and how much room was on the side of the house for back yard access and if it was big enough to build another 4 car garage in the backyard. Access was there, and the yard was huge. SOLD !!! It's sure a good thing the wife at the time liked the kitchen, cuz if she didn't, she'd be cooking in a kitchen she didn't like.
