78 elco with 1 inch lowering springs

About to change my rear air shocks for gas shocks. Can I use a stock size shock or do I need to purchase a shock that is made for an elco with a 1 inch drop?

Thanks.

The standard length shock will work just fine. Think about it, you lowered the El 1", but the bump stop for the axle travel is still the same, so you won't bottom the shock at full axle travel. I put standard length KYB's on my 2" lowered '65, and though it hasen't seen much road use , there is no issue with the shock travel.

Drifter have you thought about using an air bag in your springs when you switch over to regular type shocks?

jive 65 did you use 2" lowering springs on your elco?

I put air bags in my S10 from air lift and I could load up two ZX7R's with no squatting. :smileyb:

It was lowered when I got it. Drop spindles with disc brakes in the front, shorter springs in the rear.

You"ll like the gas shocks instead of air. The air bags are also nice.
