: Too much oil pressure maybe?

I was thinking about taking my 267 with 234000.0 miles on it out and building a 350 to put it it's place. The boss (my wife) gave me a choice, the motor or body restoration? I opted for the body work being as it still runs good. The problem I have now is, I replaced the rear main seal and decided that while I was there I might as well replace the oil pump. I think I might have goofed. I installed a high volume oil pump. I just started to notice after about a month of it being in that when I first start it up, I get a puff of blue smoke. I figured no big deal. The other day I had to replace the water pump and when I was done I let it run for about 20 min to be sure the radiator was full and no leaks. When I walked around the back of the caruck, I noticed that it was smoking a little more if I let it sit and idel. When I drive it and someone is following me there isn't any smoke at all. Could it be that my valve seals are going due to too much oil pressure or am I lucky enough to tell the wife I still need a new motor. Oh yah, I just spent the money for quarters, a dash cap, headers, duel exhaust , teo rocker panels and one door skin and of course the tranny cross member.Too late to send em back. :D

I think you're engine is just showing the signs of old age. The high volumn oil pump had nothing to do with it. There are so called "high pressure" and "high volumn" oil pumps, you said that you installed a high volumn oil pump, did it increase the oil pressure significantly? The valve stem seals could be causing the oil burning but at 200,000+ miles it could also be worn-out rings/cylinder bores. You can try replacing the valve stem seals but you should try to convince the boss lady that you really need that new engine.

When I changed the pump, I went from 10 lbs of pressure to 30 at an idel and from 30 to 60 lbs at about 40 mph.

No, it's time for a new motor, I don't think this was caused my changing the oil pump, it's just reached the end of it's life expectancy. Where did you find a doorskin?
