Have a great 79, but the back sags the minute you put something in the bed. Anyone know of a newer model car or truck that uses coil springs that I can install on my 79? Already have air shocks, but the back still sags.

Welcome to the forum, Bill. That reads like you are considering used springs. New springs are available from several sources and are relatively inexpensive. Kind of an unknown with used springs if they are in the same shape yours are.

x2 You can get NEW moog springs for around 100.00 for standard springs or you can get "over loads" for slightly more $$. I plan on replacing my springs this winter. And WELCOME to a great place for US ELKY lovers.

I got my (progressive wound) new springs from NAPA for $79.00 for the pair (jobber price).

What brand and how's the ride?

I put in a set out of an 80's Caddy after my brother finished racing it at the local dirt track. Didn't cost me a penny.

Pretty sure they were moog, ride is nice with the addition of 85 monte SS sway bar! But when I did the frt end, I cut one coil off the frt springs, so may go to shorter springs in the back. Will be going to a street rod type AC unit and taking that goiter off the firewall, so that may lighten the front and bring it up a hair. Will wait til later to decide on the rear springs.
But, have also hauled about 500 lbs in it since the progressives, and loved them then! LOL

Progressive rate "cargo coils" will raise the rear end height. If you like the height of the rear end as it is you can add air bags that go inside the springs to increase load capacity. They're about 80$ on Summit. But if you want the rear end to sit a couple inches higher then you can get the cargo coil springs.
