A guy about 1.5 hour drive away has a 1980 he is asking $250 for. It has a 6 cyl in it that knocks really hard but still runs and drives. He says the body is ok, frame is rough, interior and glass is ok. Claims tranny is good too. Found it listed in uncle henry's classifieds book. I was tempted but then not only would I have to transport it but then I would have to deal with my wife too. It is in Auburn, ME the guys number is 207-782-5249.
Just thought I'd mention it incase anyone is interested.

What does it mean "frame is rough"? If the frame is corroded away from years of harsh winter road salting damage the Elky ain't worth nothing. No matter how cheap a vehicle is, if the cost of repair/restoration exceeds the value of a similar vehicle in better condition, don't buy it. El Caminos of 1978-1987 were built in large quantities, there is no good reason to buy a junkyard refugee.

you could buy it just for parts. if the interior is good and the glass it would be worth it. i always wanted another one to just pull things off as i need them. and for 250 i would do it. but it is in maine. long drive. :(

At least someone thinks like me. For $250 that rear window and much of the other parts are well worth that. Such as right now I am still looking for some affordable bumper shocks so if someone has some let me know.
