Greetings Everybody,

I've had a week off and took the family to PigeonForge, TN for a little R&R.
Little did I know it's the beginning of RodRun week. Best I can gather it's buy, sell, trade, anyway I saw a 72 ELCO for sale and went to take a peek at it. It was yellow with a white vynl top and the bottom half was a dark color, 402 Big Block, I believe the console was on the steering colum. It was a farily decent Elco.

It had a flat hood with hood pins attached, I thought it looked pretty good so this afternoon I went and bought hood pins for my flat hood, Installed them tonite and I wonder if I made a mistake. After installation I bet I looked at it for a good 30 minutes, I guess it will have to grow on me. Has anybody done the same and thought twice after install?

Brian

P.S. will take pics tomorrow and see what y'all think.

If you feel that bad about them maybe later on you can swap for locking hood pins. Then you'll have a bit of extra function. Took one of my cars ('67 Mustang, yeah I know, Ford) across Europe doing some shows and could barely sleep at night when I was in bigger cities. Finally ended after a few days I rigged up a bicycle cable hood lock.

Anyway, I think they'll grow on you after time. Just to make you feel better I know plenty of people who've had hood latches malfunction and cost them hood, windsheild, hood hinges AND inner fenders, you now have an extra security measure to prevent that. :-P

Hey Brian. I did the same thing on my cowl hood, but I truly love the look of the hood "piercings" combined with the painted hood stripe. It was a little bit of a pain in the ass to install the pins though....

I think it changed the whole look of the front end. While mine is not a Super Sport, I'm trying to install items that you could have actually ordered as an option on a "Custom" model.

I just saw the pic's in the gallery. You did a nice job. Looks professional. When I installed mine, I had to take off quite a bit of the head light assy. I thought it was worthit to install them though.

Yours is a keeper.
