I will soon cover my chassis in the Rust Preventative and then the Chassis coat. How much of each do i need to cover the entire chassis? I dont want to spend 100 for a gallon of each if i can complete it with 1 qt.

A small amount of POR 15 will go a very long way. If you are going to do the complete frame and suspension by hand then two quarts will most likely do it for you. You can also spray it which will make the two quarts go a bit further. POR will usually cover with one coat. If you do spray make sure that you cover everything you don't want covered with over spray because it is super tuff to get off even getting it off your skin is a real chore.

Not very good at calculating sq ft of a chassis, but a quart should cover 96 sq ft. I have used in on the smugglers box and cab floor and as Harold said, a little does go a long way. It is hard to keep once opened so you might want to get some in the small 4oz cans (the sell a "six pack" of them). I would do two coats on a chassis, would not want to do it more than once! Make sure you do the proper prep work as instructed if you want good results (it is a pain but the results are worth it).

Who has actually covered their chassis with por 15 and how much did it take. How much 15 did you use and how much top coat did you use? I may also get a few cans of the exhaust coating to cover my entire exhaust to prevent any rusting.

Furious,

Just a bit of advise, if you dis folks trying to help you it has a tendancy to make others reluctant to chime in.

Well maybe you will be so kind as to tell me who I "dis'ed" and how.

Maybe you took something the wrong way and if you did, sorry.

A guy from the company i emailed said to use 1 gal. of the marine cleaner, 1 gal of the metal ready and 2 qt's or the 15. Sounds good to me buti have some industrial cleaner somewhere around here that will work. Over 100 worth of stuff though. :-(

I didn't think you dis'd anyone...you asked a question and didn't get it answered so you asked it in a more precise way. Chances are that no one actually has the exact answer, but none the less, they have an opinion and stated it instead.

Thanx a lot Leichler. :) I mainly wanted to use the POR so that rocks and such wouldnt chip the paint, especialy the bottom half of the frame that you can see peeping out from under the body. I may just sandblast it and cover it with some rust preventative then primer and paint it. Any chips i see ill just touch up. Thanx for the help guys.

Make sure that you have plenty on ventilation too. When I did the inside floor boards of my Camaro I ended up getting pretty sick from the fumes. If you have a respirator use it.
