a73elkyss 04-16-2004, 01:49 PM I am starting this thread to try and get a heads up to all ECC / NECOA members for this event.
The 11th Annual Bowtie Classic All Chevy Show sponsored and hosted by the Connecticut Chevelle Connection is June 6, 2004 with a rain date of June 13, 2004. The show will be located at Superior Business Center, 383 Middle Street, Bristol, CT. This new site offers increased capacity for spectators, members, and participants. Food - Entertainment - Door Prizes - Vendors. Show capacity is limited to the first 500 vehicles. Their web site is Connecticut Chevelle Connection (http://www.ctchevelle.net/carshow.html)
Region 2 ECC/ NECOA director Jay Levitan (a72elky) will be emailing local members regarding this event. I missed this event last year, but other members have said it was fine show and the sponsors put on a top notch show.
More info soon. Check the ECC / NECOA calender and the Connecticut Chevelle Connection web site.

a73elkyss 05-14-2004, 06:27 AM Good morning everyone,
Just a quick reminder note regarding a car show in Connecticut that I have heard some very positive revues about. I know, I'm going make the trip and attend.
Sunday June 6th in Bristol, CT. Connecticut Chevelle Connection’s 11th Annual “Bowtie Classic” All Chevy Show. Details at http://www.ctchevelle.net/carshow.html. Posted on the El Camino Central web site calendar.
I have emailed the club's Car Show Chairperson (Veronica Hunter) and confirmed there is a separate category just for El Camino's, and they do all park in the same area. I did ask her if portable folding canopy's would be allowed, and she mentioned that they will not be allowed as a canopy blew over and hit a few show cars at a previous year's car show. She also sent me a flyer for anybody that would like to "pre-register". If you would like one of these flyers, please respond back to me with your name and home mailing address.
Let me know if you plan on attending and or need more info.
Thanks,
a73elkyss 06-01-2004, 07:06 PM O.K Region 2 members. This Connecticut car show is this weekend. I've heard from a few of the members who will be attending. Anybody else going? Do you need any info??
Chime in if your going. This should be a good show.
caspiantiger 06-01-2004, 08:26 PM i would love to go, but im not sure if i will even have my elky by then. and even if i did, it wouldnt be in show condition yet. i hope it rains lol so that i could possibly go to the raindate. i might try it at a couple local car shows before i take it for a 2 hour drive
a73elkyss 06-01-2004, 09:17 PM Hey, maybe you'll have your elky by then. Who knows. Don't worry if it isn't in show condition. Hell, I just like going to car shows. Mine is a true 20 X 20 (looks good from 20 feet away going 20 MPH) :-D .
Keep an eye on the Region 2 forum and the Region 2 email for a RI show around June 27th. I just haven't posted it yet. I try and post a seperate post for each event and also post on the ECC calender.
caspiantiger 06-02-2004, 04:07 AM ok thanks.
a73elkyss 06-04-2004, 05:44 AM The latest weather forecast is a little fuzzy. The best I can see at this point is that it might be raining from Saturday into Sunday morning, then a cool day. Will have to keep an eye on the Weather Channel. Might have to bring the towels and chamios
Bill, Steve, and Tony from CT, Allen from N.H. and myself are planning on attending. Anybody else planning on going???
a73elkyss 06-05-2004, 07:49 AM Anybody else from Region 1 or 2 going? Might be a last minute decision because of the weather.
Don't hesitate to call me at home or on my cell. I'll be leaving early Sunday morning for the show.

a73elkyss 06-06-2004, 03:37 AM O.K. Region 2 members. Today is the Connecticut show. If your reading this, then get up and make your way to the show. It is a little brisk out, but the rain mostly held off. Only a chance of drizzle the remainder of the day. Don't worry, you won't melt :-)
caspiantiger 06-06-2004, 06:30 AM I wot be able to attend this show because my elky needs shocks installed and to be inspected, hopefully i will go to a show soon in the future.
caspiantiger 06-06-2004, 03:24 PM let me know how the show was anynoe that went to it.
a73elkyss 06-06-2004, 06:23 PM When my wife, Dian, and I left central Massachusetts at 6:30, it was only cloudy and cold. Only about 55 degrees. The bribe of a Dunkin coffee was not wearing to well. I thought how much am I going to "owe" her for this one? About half way down to the show, it started to drizzle/rain and actually get colder. The cloud cover got thicker and the fog rolled in. Hey, this is frigon June. Go figure.
We got down to the show site and were a little surprised to see them actually having the show. We pulled in and ECC/NECOA member Bill was there. Finally good to match a face with the name. He has a real nice Elky. I had actually seen it last year parked at the Summer Nat's, just didn't know it was his. Its for sale if anybody is interested along with a Nitrous setup.
Anyway, the weather got worse fast. Drizzle, rain, fog, and cold. There were other cars coming in, so we decided to stay for a while to see if the weather turned any better.
We also met other Region 2 members Brian (choochoo86) and Tony (damientaylor79). Brian brought his sweet Monte Carlo, and next year I'm sure we will see Tony's Elky.
After almost three hours of cold damp rain, it stopped. We dried off the Elky's in time for the peoples judging. It wasn't anywhere near ideal but we had a good time anyway.
I think after getting Dian up early, dragging her across state lines to a car show in the rain, having her help dry off the Elky, and then drive back without her complaining once, I owe her a steak dinner and more..... 8)
Hopefully we will have better luck in a few weeks at the Rhode Island show.
