they might just be saying gas or propane because any carbuerated vehicle can be easily converted to propane:dontknow:

A lot of propane conversions kept the original carb in place and the propane was fed into a modified air cleaner and still used the original carbs throttle plates to control rpm. I grew up around these conversions on delivery trucks. the gas is shut off if the propane is on and vice versa. The propane is fed through a water heated (heater hoses run to it) regulator to vaporize it fast enough for WOT. The system is not near as efficient as a true full blown propane conversion but gave you the ability to get home if you ran out of propane. These conversions are what gave propane the bad rap of poor mileage and low power.

After market retrofit.
In the mid 80s Cdn Defence Dept beancounters had a brain fart and we went propane in all non tactical vehicles for awhile. The new vehs would come off the Chrysler assy line for example, and a sub contractor would convert them. Well, after the first Cdn winter, the cold starting became a major problem. Not to mention fuel availability. I recall being posted to Prince Edward Island which only had two locations to buy propane fuel province wide. Made it interesting to plan travelling.
Just another oxymoron, military intelligence.
