I'm planning to debut my '79 El Camino after its extensive reworking at the 37th Annual Ft. Worth MotoRama, to be held at the Will Rogers Amon G. Carter Exhibit Building in Ft. Worth, Texas held 25-27 February 2011; as I should be transferring away from Ft Worth early next year, this may be one of my last chances for a grand gathering with my fellow DFW area Elkys and Elky owners.

While all of our cars aren't necessarily show winners, I've seen all grades of cars at this show in club displays. Anyone interested in entering with me as part of a NECOA display? Entry is $40.00 per car, and gotta sign up early 'cause they book up quick. Next week when I go tell HoH the deadline, I'm gonna register both my rides. While I can enter both my cars and call that a club, that would just be lame. Who's with me Texas? :dontknow:

Here's the website:
http://www.txshowcar.com/index.html

And if someone had a friend with a 1000hp Firebird that wanted to hang with us, I would not object.

The sooner the better, I would think. I posted the information for this and the Dallas show several days ago. Glad you're going to join us, Donny. This is going to be GREAT!!...................Ken

I don't have anything fancy to put around my car or to dispay. I know the quality of cars at these events from those I painted in the past. I'll have to think on this one. :dontknow:

I just talked to the guys at HoH today; they said the car can be ready if I get off my but and get the last few parts that they are waiting on. Just got the speakers today; I'll go in this week and review the finishing details so they have a clear idea on how to finish out the interior. I'll also be completing my registration for the Motoram tomorrow now that I'm sure the car will be done.

So far it sounds like it's Ken, DDD, me twice. Will the Gran Camino (or is it an El Prix) be done in time? How bout the Terminator? Is Lumpy's new tranny up for the drive? Come on guys let's show em what the Cruck culture is all about.

I just talked to the guys at the Ft Worth MotoRama this mornig; since I don't have pics of the '79 in one piece I wnated to talk to him. He says we (the National El Camino Owners Association) can probably get six spots in the show. He has had to turn away cars in the past due to space constraints (over 150 last year, and if I remember Ken said he was one of 'em). I'm filling out my applications today and mailing them offf tomorrow. They more closely scrutinize individual entrys quality than they do the club cars. I told him in our club we have everything from Saturday morning T.V. stars and transmision killing racers to daily drivers. He said send him what we got.

Who did you talk to, Gregg? Because I did not think anybody else was showing, I might not have put the club on my FTW application. I KNOW that I put it on the Dallas one...............Ken

I would love to enter but my El Camino is NOT going to be ready because I have to take it to the body shop, motor rebuild, and paint. Soooooo much more!!! Its gonna be like 3 or 4 months worth of work..Ugh!!!!:let_it_all_out:

Com' on, Larry! Your cruck will outshine us all, and it's a great example of a custom and what can be done with an El Camino. As for stanchions, you can rent them along with your application. You probably don't want to buy them for a one-time indoor showing, as I believe that my cheapo ones cost around 75 to $80.00. Com' on - ENTER!.................Ken

Not realizing it was only 7:45 this morning , I called the number on the bottom of the application and woke up/spoke with a gentlemen and his wife. Didn't catch his name, but he said right now all the applications he has are just sitting in an inbox on his desk. He doesn't like processing them too soon because of back outs and cars being sold before the show. Once I send mine in, we can call about a week later and tell him to group your application and mine together even if you didn't write NECOA on it (I intend to spell it out on the application; don't want him Googleing NECOA to find our website and finding that OTHER site instead) or I can include a note with mine to tell him to find yours in his stack.

I'm renting their chains and poles.

The only fancy stuff going around my cars will be your cars.

The only thing I have are 4 18" X 30" floor rugs to park on, because those were required in the last indoor show that my cruck was in - those and the stanchions and plastic chain. Certainly no smoke & mirrors...........Nothin' fancy here! Gregg, go ahead and place the note along with your application. I'll also call when it get closer to the date. THANKS...............Ken

Apperently the guys at the Texas Show Car Association heard about Ken's injuries and that he wouldn't make the show in February, so they rescheduled. Get better Ken, the show is now on 1-3 July 2011 with move-in on 29-30 June. As for the rest of you, this gives you some time to get off your lazy buts and get everything in order to make the car show

They also mentioned something about the Fort Worth Marathon being around Will Rogers on 26 and 27 Feb, so you may want to stay away from that area since traffic will be rerouted all over the place. Some folks may think that's why the show was rescheduled, but us Elky guys know it was all about Ken.

I plan to have my El Camino in the TicketCity Bowl show in Dallas at Fair Park over New Years weekend. I just put a new Holley Street Avenger in yesterday so I hope to get more power. I probably will be in the Dallas AutoRama show in Feb., also.

Thanks, Gregg! I wasn't going to let that out myself. However, this does give us some time to get everyone together for a GREAT NECOA turnout in July. I'm going to let you'all know when they announce the new sign-up date - then I'm going to pester everyone until you simply give up and enter!

Paul, I've already entered the Dallas Autorama, with NECOA as the club name. We should be able to call them up and ensure adjoining spaces. My having the cruck there really depends on how fast my leg heals.............Ken

Thats neat that Ken has so much clout, do you reckon some of his clout would rub off on me if hung around him more. Hee Hee , since I am just a pennon.
Maybe but that time my Grand Camino will be running.
