Just installed a new GM performance parts 350/290HP crate engine in my 78 elky and an edelbrock performer 2101 intake and an edelbrock 1806 electric choke 650 cfm 4bbl carb. Bought the throttle cable stud, idle up solenoid and kickdown stud.
Only problem is, it looks like the kickdown stud mounts where the return springs are mounted. Anyone have a picture of an edelbrock setup on a small block with auto trans?

The 1806 has a hole about an inch below the main throttle linkage hole for the return spring. The spring has to go toward the front. You might need to make a bracket to go under the second intake bolt to hook the front part of the spring. It is old school stuff - the way chevy did it when they used the AFB or the 4GCs.

Is that used for air conditioning? Do you have a part number if it is? I'm working on a similar set up in my '72 SS. Haven't got to the spring set up yet still have to hang front clip and many other details. Thanks.

Forget about it if you have an idle-up solenoid for AC. I called edelbrock the other day and they told me I needed part # 8005. It was about $8 from summit. All it is is a flat piece of metal and 2 springs. It would mount like 464 says to the second intake bolt. BUT, it doesn't clear the idle-up solenoid and bracket. So I made a short little mount that mounts to the kickdown stud and sticks up high enough to mount the springs. The springs still come from the rear and mount in the original hole in the OEM throttle bracket.
