Got a rebuilt THM 350 installed in my 87 to replace the worn out THM200. Having a problem getting a dust cover for the converter that the flex plate doesn't hit. New flexplate and its eating the dust cover up The guy at the tranny shop has tried 2 diff. ones so far no luck. Taking it back in the morn. for try #4 ? is it really that hard finding a cover that will fit the 350 and not rub? Thanks for any and all replies Jim:texas:By the way to all you guys help in picking a tranny for an elky with 2.73 gears the 350 drives very nice. Glad I didn't go with the overdrive with those highway gears Maybey next time when I have more cash to change out the rearend.

Do you know what vehicle the trans came out of? Then get a cover using that vehicle as the source.

I sure wouldn't have expected that to be to hard to find. If you have a local pull a part, try to get one off of a truck. They are metal instead of plastic. Thin metal, but nevertheless, they are metal. Shouldn't be very expensive either.
You made 2 right choices here. #1 The T350 instead of a 700r4 for strength, and no 1-2 fall off for the wide ratio gap that a 700r4 has, #2 getting rid of the THM200. I refer to that t200 as a Bic Lighter. Disposable. Its quits working you throw it away and get a Zippp being the T350. How's that for an analagy???

BTW, Jim, I think I know you from another forum don't I??? If you're the same guy, you better know who I am. I voted for you in the election for what help it was. You notice I don't hang out there much.

Try your local speed shop. I bought one but it is chrome. No rubbing problem.

Yep, good suggestion Blaster. It'll be a cheapie but it will serve its purpose and still better than plastic. Some people like the plastic cuz the metal will get dinged up from road rocks.

Does the starter have a shiming plate and if so the flex could have been adapted to fit the starter from another car, or ??, a far reach but I have seen many GM parts in Chevy and other GM cars. Nothing would surprise me at all when guys build on a pick a part budget many things get adapted.
The truck inspection idea mention above may be the solution as some of the truck engine have been known to have small differences, and the metal is better.
