I was wondering what colors two paint my 80. The Idea I have is a black base coat and racing stripe in cavellears Sunburst Orange. Does and body have pic of car with these colors. Any opion is appriciated.

Black looks great on it's own. Orange again looks great on it's own(I saw an awesome '79 Malibu this weekend with what the owner called candy-apple tangerine...I'll post the pic. when I get a chance). However you put these two together and what do you get? A Halloween parade float. But that's just my opinion on it. I always liked the look of black and gold together. They compliment each other nicely.

What racing stripes would look good agenst a silver or black background. I got a photocopy of the original invoice for my car and was thinking about returning it to the original silver color. The only reasen I am leaning to the black is becouse I have been working on some body parts in my auto bodyshop class, And this way I can put them back on with out it looking like a jollopy.

Dark blue...black with blue stripes just exudes sexiness.

I agree that a dark blue metallic. I was looking at a color book and found a GM color called Impulse Effect I think that it was from 2003. I'll keep you posted on my progress. Should be done by end of next week.

i think a dark blue with some silver stripes would look great.......or maybe a pearl white with the orange.....i have mine painted bahama blue pearl metallic, its a mercedes color u might check it out, it would good with silver stripes i think.....

I am a liittle partial to the opposite: Black on gold. Check out my gallery.

If you must, marappi (probably misspelled) has a black with silver pic. Gold stripes would also look good.

i've been thinking about paint options also. im thinking of a dark blue with black on the upper and lower body(conquista style) but people have said "why the black?" so im not too sure. i think it would look good. but i cant find any pics of one painted those colors... sorry to steal your thread! :P

I plan on using Cobalt Blue for the base and using Sunlit Copper (Nissan color) for a custom paint scheme. I'd tell you how it's going to look, but I'd have to kill you. :P Blue and orange are complementary colors, so they look good together. If you're going to do the racing stripes thing, you may consider using Nissan's Silverstone for the silver, base color...what can I say, I like Nissan paint colors. :cool: For the stripes, I'd suggest using Corvette's Medium Spiral Grey Metallic and outlining it with white. That would give it a nice, classic look. :-)

I looked at all kinds of new cars on the road to paint my son's '97 Z/28 a silver. It's a lot of fun taking your time to find the right colors what ever car you are going to paint. We finally went with the 2003 VW reflex silver. Came out perfect.

I think if anyone is going to use two colors and having the lower half of the car done with a second color you should always use a darker color for the bottom.

I love my white w/black '70. Clean and direct and very visual. But I bought my car already painted. If I had to choose any other color for my gen elky I would have to go with the 1971 Camaro Z/28 color Placer Gold with Black hood stripes, and my black interior. I LOVED this color combo when I had my Z/28 and saw very few others painted the same color. In fact I only saw one other '71 Z/28 painted the same factory gold color as mine. Nice to have something a little different and not see the same color on every block.

Everyone here is going to have a favorite color and combo. Look at different colors and go with what you like. Have fun and for sure send pictures.

So remember pick, White, no Gold, no Blue, no Silver :cry: ...hee hee, good luck! :P

I like the racing stripe look but as i have been looking on the web there are few that have a stripes that go all the way to the tail gate. thought this could be one way to make my stand out just a little bit more. and I'am using the silver paint color that origanil came on it Thanks for all the help will post pic when done
